When Jay sailed around the world in the 1970’s, he painted his wetsuit legs with 3” yellow stripes, from the knees down to the cuff. This replicated the sea snake coloring which sharks and barracudas found alarming, and would not approach. Sharks do not see colors, they see patterns of white, grey, and black. This unique pattern will remind sharks that your legs are not regular faire. In really sharky waters paint your arms from elbow to cuff 3” pattern. This information is also in his book written in 1983 - “The Armchair Adventurist”.

It was an honor to paddle out with an athlete and participate in the First Annual MUD Invitational at Surfrider Beach. The Mighty Under Dogs are a Malibu-based nonprofit that helps children and adults with special needs through the joys of the ocean and surf therapy. I can't wait for the next event!

I want to personally thank the Sierra Club for their endorsement and continued support of my environmental efforts. It's important that we protect what we love. Thank you to the local review board for understanding the complexities affecting the health of our neighborhood.
