“Barbara Ann Grossman, our mom and best friend flew to another realm on 12/20/22. She was a quiet and beautiful soul, but could sneak in some really subtle and funny one-liners that many people might miss. She was so beloved by our friends and family and even in her last days made connections with people who quickly fell in love with her too. Our mom loved music and the theater. Kindness and patience were her superpowers and beauty in nature and in art was her energy source. She loved her family deeply and let us know that she loved us “more.” She wouldn’t ask anything of anyone so it became an honor to care for her from our malibu home, sending her off with lavender in the air, birds singing, serenading and surrounded by her favorite daughters and son. We love you more, Mama. “ Written by . Music by

It was an honor to share my perspective on the theme of “Journeys” with on her podcast that highlights shared human experiences around the difficult things that challenge us all to grow. Each of her three guests offered a personal story about how the journey, as a metaphor for life, relates to our life experiences.

In my segment, I share stories about my dad, an entrepreneur for over 60 years, whose frequent, passionate, and dramatic recitation of the Robert Frost poem - The Road Not Taken - encouraged my curiosity and sense of adventure.

BTW, In my opinion, The Waystation podcast stands out in an every growing sea of podcast uniformity.

Recently, I discovered that I am genetically connected to the people in Ukraine.

In an effort to answer some questions that my mom had about her father, I started researching her family history.

I learned that Max and Rebecca Zeitzew, my maternal great grandfather and great grandmother immigrated to the US from Kyiv in 1891. At this time, Kyiv was part of Russia and I believe my ancestors left due to religious persecution.

I am beyond grateful to them for leaving when they did. Things in Russia and Europe got much worse for Jews and the chances of me being here now would have been slim to none if they stayed.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, my ability to focus has been decimated. The things I am doing seem so trivial and the things I normally am thinking about reveal the privilege I have been so fortunate to experience.

This unprovoked and unjustified invasion is shattering the lives of good people that walk the same streets my ancestors once walked.

January offers us the energy of fresh starts and new beginnings and practically everyone on Social Media is talking about it. The holidays may be over, but many of us are not in action mode yet. We are still recharging from a draining 2021 and reenergizing in preparation for 2022. I know that on January 1st, I certainly didn't feel ready to commit to my "word for 2022" let alone a list of resolutions, intentions, or specific personal and professional goals.

In the meantime, I'm using the fresh start energy of the first week of 2022 to keep the wheels in motion on the launch of The Productivity Space (very soon!) while I ponder over the possibilities for what I want to create, how I want to do it, and who I want to be in 2022. Those are not answers you rush! I trust that there will be a moment in the near future when a clear picture of what I want this year to look like for me and my business will emerge. No pressure!

Is anyone else feeling the need to ease into 2022?

Whoa! What I know for sure about the last several years is that they haven’t been boring! Am I right? There has been a surprise around every bend. Barely a day went by without something to astound us.

And here we are turning the page once again.

Tomorrow brings a brand new chapter and here is my wish……

May good fortune smile upon us all. May the coming year bring us inner peace and a sense of safety, harmony, and balance. May we enjoy good health, meaningful relationships, and massive belly laughs.

Wishing you, dear friends, 365 days filled with beauty, opportunity, adventure and 8,760 hours to experience happiness, joy, unlimited prosperity, and unconditional love.

Don’t forget that the storm eventually passes. Be kind to yourself and may all of our wishes come true.

The excerpt below comes from one of my favorite of Joan Didion’s essays titled “On Self Respect”, which was included in her 1968 anthology, “Slouching Towards Bethlehem.” There is a lot of this type of insight available today on TikTok but in the 1970’s, this level of honesty was shocking and enlightening.

RIP Joan.

“The dismal fact is that self-respect has nothing to do with the approval of others — who are, after all, deceived easily enough; has nothing to do with reputation, which, as Rhett Butler told Scarlett O’Hara, is something people with courage can do without.

To do without self-respect, on the other hand, is to be an unwilling audience of one to an interminable documentary that deals with one’s failings, both real and imagined, with fresh footage spliced in for every screening. There’s the glass you broke in anger, there’s the hurt on X’s face; watch now, this next scene, the night Y came back from Houston, see how you m**f this one. To live without self-respect is to lie awake some night, beyond the reach of warm milk, the Phenobarbital, and the sleeping hand on the coverlet, counting up the sins of commissions and omission, the trusts betrayed, the promises subtly broken, the gifts irrevocably wasted through sloth or cowardice, or carelessness. However long we postpone it, we eventually lie down alone in that notoriously uncomfortable bed, the one we make ourselves. Whether or not we sleep in it depends, of course, on whether or not we respect ourselves.”

I’m BACK! I am certain you haven’t noticed, but since JULY I have only been able to post stories on my Instagram account. I have not been able to post into my feed.

And most tragically, I also have not been able to comment on any of YOUR posts.

I’ve missed being able to send you some ❤️💗💖 and 🌺🌸🌼 for just being you, 🙌 and 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 for your success, 😍 when you look amazing, and 😆 when you are being funny or silly.

I made due by commenting on your stories (which did work for some reason) and using my other accounts to let you know in your posts that I see what your doing, I hear what you are going through, and that I am here for you!

I have tried to get the problem fixed, but Instagram doesn’t make it easy. I spent hours sending them issue reports only to receive radio silence in return.

Today, I stumbled on the problem and could not believe how simple it was. My Linktree link in bio was hacked and as soon as I removed it, I was able to post a comment on a client’s post.

The truth is, I’ve been so busy getting ready to launch a new venture that at some point, I decided I could not let an Instagram glitch destroy my inner peace so I let go of the desperate need to fix it and I worked around it.

It does feel great to know that when I shifted my perspective about the situation, a simple solution presented itself. That is after all, one of the mindset principles that I teach my clients!

Well, that’s the update.

Hello and much love to you all!

When we went into quarantine last year, many of the entrepreneurs I know found it impossible to focus and get work done. I’ve faced that challenge many times during my 40 yr career so I jumped on the opportunity to share one of my favorite productivity tools and I began facilitating virtual work sprints for entrepreneurs.

The response was overwhelmingly positive! For some, the sessions helped them get the ball rolling on passion projects, like writing a memoir, and for others, they were able to complete work related projects they knew would have a big payoff but that they dreaded, like writing job descriptions, creating social media content, or cleaning up their contacts lists.

Inspired by their successes, I’m excited to share my new venture with you!

The simple human desire to accomplish more in less time is what drives us to be productive. But how do we get from WANTING to be more productive to actually BEING more productive? Enter: The Productivity Space.

First, comes PLANNING. It helps to acknowledge that time is your most valuable resource and therefore how you use it deserves thoughtful deliberation.

There are many great quotes the remind us how valuable planning can be, but one of our favorites is “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!”― Benjamin Franklin

Next, comes INTERMITTENT PERIODS OF WORK AND REST. Research has shown that through consistent use of short sprints of focused work followed by brief breaks, you can sustain your energy and ability to concentrate becoming exponentially more productive.

And finally, COMMUNITY. Studies tell us that the #1 way to improve your chances of success is to surround yourself with people that are creating and accomplishing at the level you want to be at.

We created The Productivity Space to bring it all together in our virtual guided work sprint sessions; a hybrid of strategic planning, timed work sprints, and bonafide rest breaks paired with group motivation.

Welcome to The Productivity Space—we are so happy you're here!

You’ll be able to sign up for our Work Sprint Sessions when our website goes live on 9.6.21.
