Still plenty of great riding on Maui, and West Maui is bringing the fun! 🤙🚵‍♂️ Laps at West Maui Bike Park and the old Xterra trails in Kapalua had us smiling the whole ride!

Big mahalo to Maui Mountain Bike Coalition MMBC! They’ll have an excavator Bobcat of Maui up there for the next month digging out some fun stuff and getting things ready for the Aloha Gravel , put on by MAUI SUNRIDERS BIKE SHOP and Lauf Gravel Worlds® . ❤️ KAUAʻI — WE’RE WITH YOU.

As Hurricane Lowell moves away from Hawaiʻi, we’re incredibly grateful that so many people across our islands are safe.

At the same time, so many of our neighbors are hurting and need help, especially on Kauaʻi and Niʻihau. Homes, businesses and infrastructure have been damaged, families have been displaced, and communities are beginning the long work of recovery.

But if there’s one thing we know about Hawaiʻi, it’s this:

The resilience of our island communities is phenomenal.

When one island gets knocked down, the rest of Hawaiʻi shows up. We take care of our neighbors. We share what we have. We rebuild together. ❤️🤙🏽

We’re pumped after an incredible turnout at the community meeting at Krank Cycles — 60+ people came together because they care about Makawao Forest and want to help.

Bikers, hikers, runners, equestrians, families, conservation groups, businesses and community leaders — our voice is stronger when we come together.

From that meeting, Save Makawao Forest was formed. 🌲

MMBC is committed to working alongside the community and the State toward the safe recovery and reopening of Makawao Forest.

Saturday’s community meeting was a huge success — more than 60 people showed up, including community leaders, Sierra Club Maui, Maui Mountain Bike Coalition, local businesses, outdoor groups and a representative from the State.

The message was clear: Maui cares about Makawao Forest, and our community is ready to help.

Out of that meeting, Save Makawao Forest was formed — a community effort for everyone who hikes, bikes, runs, hunts, rides horses, recreates or simply loves this incredible place.

We understand the forest has serious hazards and that reopening must be done safely and in coordination with the State. We’re standing by and organizing so when help is needed, we’re ready.

🙏 First off, thank God Maui missed the worst of the last storm. The forest didn’t take another major hit, but Makawao Forest / Kahakapao remains CLOSED.

DLNR is asking everyone to please stay out of the forest while assessment and cleanup continue. Respecting the closure helps keep everyone safe and allows the work to move forward.

☀️ MAUI TRAIL & STORM UPDATE 🌴🚲

It’s beautiful and sunny right now, but Tropical Storm Moke is approaching Hawaiʻi. The current forecast has it tracking south of the islands, and we hope it stays that way — but please stay prepared.

We’ve been getting a TON of calls and messages about Makawao Forest and Polipoli. Right now, they are CLOSED. Please stay out. 🙏

There are still dangerous conditions from the last storm, including hanging trees, downed trees and debris. With another storm approaching, conditions will need to be reassessed. When clearing crews get back in there, let’s give them the space to work safely.

We know everyone is ready to ride. So are we! 🤙

We’ll keep posting updates here as we get reliable information. When we get the green light, we can’t wait to get back in there, put in the work and help make the trails even better than before. 🌲⛏️🚲

🌲 MAKAWAO FOREST STORM UPDATE 🌲

First and most importantly, we’re so glad everyone made it through Hurricane Lala safely. We hope our Maui community is getting the help and resources needed to get things cleaned up and life feeling normal again.

Makawao Forest is CLOSED. We are starting to receive updates now, but please stay clear of the forest until it is officially reopened. There are still serious hazards, including downed trees, dangerous hanging trees and branches, debris, and potentially unstable areas.

We are getting information directly from the State and will share updates as soon as we know more about the condition of the trails and what comes next.

Please respect the closure and give crews the space they need to assess the damage safely.
