BOOK LAUNCH: ORDER YOUR COPY TODAY
Unhide Yourself
Put Creativity First

To embark on the journey to Unhide Yourself is noble and courageous. You have everything you need to do it. You were born with the impulse to express yourself, to "make" the world you live in. This is your reminder. Summon courage and take the one step that's in front of you. You will be one step closer to your dream.

Unhide Yourself is a soulful invitation to move from self-protection into creative self-expression. Through stories, reflections, and simple practices, it helps you soften the fear, doubt, and old safety patterns that keep your real voice hidden. The book guides you gently through the echoes of childhood, the trauma voice, and the familiar wobble that show up whenever you begin something new. By reconnecting with your spark, welcoming your ideas, and taking small creative steps, you learn to trust your expression again. Ultimately, Unhide Yourself helps you come forward with honesty, courage, and aliveness—so your true self can finally be seen.

Inside, you’ll explore how to:
*Welcome the first spark of an idea without editing it to death
*Give yourself permission instead of waiting for approval
*Protect a new idea until it's strong enough to meet the world
*Share boldly and receive praise without shrinking
*Celebrate your small steps (because they matter more than you think)
*Rest when the wave is complete, and trust the next one will rise
*Honor the hero you already are—the one who kept going

Unhide Yourself teaches you how to stay close to your spark, how to trust your timing, and how to keep returning to the small, simple acts of self-expression that bring you back to joy, meaning, and aliveness.

This is not a book about becoming someone else. It’s about remembering who you already are—and letting the world finally see it.

I have some friends I just love being around. Somehow when I'm near them, I feel much better about myself. They inherently "see" the best of me and reflect that back. I feel welcome.

I've come to the conclusion that we live in a world of mirrors designed to help us see and know ourselves. Without mirrors we wouldn't know where we begin or end.

I am a mirror to you, and You are one to me.
We receive light from others and then reflect back what we see.

It takes skill and practice to be an accurate mirror. Most of us distort the light we receive when we run it through our psyche, adding our projections and fears. That's ok. It's part of being human.

It's also not ok.

The world is far better when you take responsibility for reducing the distortion you create, so the people around you get a truer reflection of who they are.

When you heal and come to know your true essence, you can better mirror those around you so they know their true essence.

In this way, healing yourself gets paid forward to the world, a million times over.

What kind of mirror do you want to be?

Anyone who says they want to write book is mad.
UGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
It's not all roses.

A year ago I said "Launching Spring 2025"
I felt confident I could hit that deadline.
I already judged myself to be late.
It "should" have been done already.

A year later I'm updating my website to say "Launching Spring 2026!"

I think I overshot when I submitted at 110 000 words.
The publisher who kindly took the time to consider it agreed.
Now I have the task of integrating their excellent, valid feedback.

The irony is, the book is about the creative process.

It literally maps what happens when your idea makes contact with the world. What you have to tolerate inside when you get seen, but not whole-heartedly accepted. What its like to need to re-iterate? How quickly the little voices of should and shame come up, and what to do about them.

I have to navigate my perfectionism.
Be willing to risk being seen.
Manage the result but let go of the response.
And keep seeing myself through kind eyes.

Big visions take perseverance.

What are you working on that has tested your perseverance?
What would help you?

It’s strange how existentially terrifying I find it sometimes to just walk across a room and introduce myself to someone new.
Then other times it’s effortlessly happened before I even think about it.

I used to be addicted to knowing why I get stuck in the hesitation. I could spend hours contemplating my painful past. These days I'm more interested in how I can move through or around fear, so I can get on with what I want to do.

Summoning courage often seems to be the answer

I love that quote from the movie We Bought A Zoo where Benjamin Mee says “You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.”

What's the step you'd take to day if you summoned 20 seconds of insane courage?

I had an amazing family constellation workshop yesterday where I got to see some of the inherited patterns that influence why I often hide my own brilliance and don’t feel confident to step fully into my work and service to the world.

This edge of “showing up” is one I have been working with for 20 years in healing schools and mens groups. Back when I started I never imagined I’d be comfortable standing in front of 1000 people delivering a talk, or doing storytime with a classroom of kids.

Yet even with all this healing, there is always an edge. A place where either I withhold or vulnerability emerges as I expose myself. In my experience, the edge never goes away - so I've concluded that we have to learn to navigate it if we want to shine.

I know I’m not the only one with an injury around being seen or a pattern of withholding and hiding.

If you’re looking for help with coming forward into your own life, navigating your edge, so you live your purpose, feel more fulfilled and confident, I’d love to help.

I observe 2 types of creative freedom.

The freedom of a blank page with no boundaries or intention, other than the free-flowing expression of creativity. (like the image attached)

AND/OR

The freedom found inside a project with a clear timeline and end product, like writing a book.

Finding the first, helps find the second.
Thoughts?

Come and explore freedom and self-expression.

When you use your favorite activities as a way to decompress from your overwhelm, you put your joy in service to your recovery. That’s wonderful, but catching up is different from front-loading joy.

When you dedicate time to your favorite activities in advance of any overwhelm, you:

Bank calm before it’s needed.

Build capacity so stress lands softer.

Tell yourself, “You matter.”

Then you fly free.

Stop making your joy responsible only for repairing overwhelm.
Let your joy have its own space.

Reading about narcissism has been deeply painful.

Let me back up a bit for context.

A dear friend of mine went down the narcissism rabbit hole after a nasty dating encounter with a South African man about the same age as me.

As an intrepid student of healing she dove deep into the literature seeking to understand the core wound that lies beneath the destructive, manipulative, malicious behaviors she’d experienced. Her compassion was deeply intact, despite the hurtful experience, as she sought to better comprehend the original childhood injury that led to such a split.

She engaged me in conversation seeking to understand the societal context of South Africa when I (and he) were children. There was a hint in the air that more than a few men from that same era struggled with the same split.

"What’s the split?" I asked, curious to see what she was seeing. I knew she was talking about her ex more than she was talking about me, but it became personal when she answered:

‘Grandiosity masking deep worthlessness’.”

“How deep!” I asked, surprising myself with the question that just slipped out of my mouth.

“Entirely,” she said. “It’s as if they are entirely worthless.”
