If a race report starts off with “We should have been faster, better, yada yada” or “Can’t thank our sponsors enough” or “it’s someone else’s fault”….it means it was a hard luck event.

Not for us though! Even though we did not make an A main….it wasn’t our fault….we were just too damn fast for the slow crashes in front of us or we had an oil line get a hole in it!

Best part of the weekend was watching both Avery Morgan and Eli Morgan race side by side in a B main! They were battling and Avery came out on top!

For all the crap luck we had this weekend at Port City the B main race made it worth while. Watching the kids slice and dice right next to each other like they did in karts was awesome. It makes it way easier to keep up with both racers in the same race!

Also, we have promoted the crew chief to our motorhome driver, thank goodness he doesn’t have thumbs!

Charlene Meents Memorial at Port City Raceway was once again a good weekend of racing. Great work by Shane and his track team to keep the track under control with all of the heavy hitting POWRi West Midgets doing work. The racing surface on Saturday night was excellent and made for great racing!

Over 40 entries in each class each night. Making the A main is a challenge in itself but we had great success all nights. Eli came away with the cumulative hard charger in NonWing by passing the most cars over the event! He won a very nice helmet bag. Thank you very much to the event organizers and keeping this event going over the years.

We started on Thursday with only Non Wing and both kids finished in the top 10, Avery Morgan with 7th and Eli with 11th.

Friday was a bit unsettled as Avery was not able to make the mains, and Eli got caught behind a car that stopped on the track after a flat tire. Eli did come back to the Nonwing race though to finish 7th after starting 14th.

Saturday both kids made both A mains and had good runs.

Non Wing - Eli would continue hunting from the back after going 6 to 1 in the B main, and he started 16th and ended 4th!!!! Avery got into a little mess after ripping the lip in the A main but before the cluster was looking spicy. We rushed to get her fixed back up before the next green flag thanks to the Boland Speed and Performance and Zac Zeller Racing squad!

A class Wing - lots of action in the race and the kids were ripping the lip and making moves to try and get to the front but also kept their car out of trouble and moved up 1 to finish 8th and 10th.

Congratulations to Wout Hoffmans on his win. Long time coming and looking forward to many more.

Port City Raceway 2 day show has wrapped up and Avery Morgan had a good weekend behind the wheel. She was solo this weekend due to Eli going to his fall homecoming dance, but none the less 2Turnt chief was still excited to turn wrenches!

Avery was a rocket in her heats both nights and did well in all the features. She is getting to the front of the A mains which is fantastic and it’s teaching her new parts of the craft. Looking forward to getting back to work in a couple of weeks to keep building on her speed.

Made a late week decisions to go racing at Port City Raceway for the Saturday race. The team had mixed results due to unavoidable mechanical issues and one cluster of SQRLS.

We made a small adjustment to Avery Morgan’s rocket ship and she said it’s the best the car has ever felt! She was doing work in the A class feature cutting up lap traffic all while defending her position from sliders. It was a fantastic performance until she was the recipient of SQZRLS soup. She was cooking in Nonwing too but a rough rut got the best of the Jacob’s ladder and that eventually ended the night.

Eli was cooking as well and finished 3rd in A class and was running in 2nd in Nonwing until a bolt failure occurred on the left wishbone. All in all his race craft continued to improve.

Add this to the many great track weekends with the family and also the new crew chief, Tony.

New crew chief got us to the track…they don’t charge him a pit pass fyi!

What an exciting end to our first weekend back at the track after a long summer break! We made our way to Port City Raceway for the Pete Frazier Memorial.

We may not have been around to experience the joys of racing with those that came before us but this event definitely shows the impacts of previous generations. Thank you to all of those that make it possible, with a special thanks for the hard charger award in the Non Wing class by the Smith’s in memory of Bob Chandler. We first met Bob in Shawnee while racing go karts and he seemed like an old friend from the start. It was wild to me that he actually knew who the kids were and mentioned they looked great even though we had never met before. His memory lives on with us as well as many others.

For the race results:

Friday night Avery made the A main in Nonwing! However, Eli couldn’t catch a break from the SQZRLS and helped clean out the trailer of spare parts….

Saturday the tables turned a bit, with Avery not able to make an A, but Eli getting into both features but the highlight was the Non Wing race where he started 17th and finished 3rd. Eli had a run at the end with about 5 laps to go but got loose and had to settle for 3rd.

The ups and down of racing are still there after our break lol, but it was fantastic to be back at the track!

Looking forward to the next event so stay tuned!

🏁 PORT CITY RACEWAY WEEKEND RECAP | Morgan Motorsports 🏁

Two days. Two drivers. Two classes. Another weekend of growth, speed, and hard-fought racing for Morgan Motorsports at Port City Raceway.

Both Avery Morgan (07A) and Eli Morgan (15E) competed in A-Class Micro and Non-Wing Micro competition Friday and Saturday against some of the toughest competition around.

⚡ Eli Morgan | 15E
Eli showed speed all weekend and continued putting himself in position to battle up front.

Weekend highlights included:
🔥 Friday A-Class Feature — P4
🥉 Saturday A-Class Feature — P3
🥈 Saturday Non-Wing Feature — P2

Friday night Non-Wing unfortunately ended in a DNF after contact while working through traffic… turns out his car was faster than the one in front of him 🐿️💨

The great part is that his response was exactly what you want to see—bounce back, stay fast, and finish the weekend with two podium finishes.

⚡ Avery Morgan | 07A
Avery continued gaining experience and putting together consistent runs across both classes all weekend.

Weekend results included:
🏁 Friday A-Class Feature — P9
🏁 Saturday A-Class Feature — P15
📈 Friday Non-Wing Feature — P9
📈 Saturday Non-Wing Feature — P7

Every session added laps, experience, and continued progress.

Weekends like this don’t happen without the crew, family, and sponsors standing behind these drivers. We’re grateful for everyone who supports Morgan Motorsports and helps keep both cars competing every weekend.

Thank you to our partners and supporters for believing in what we’re building—we’re excited to keep the momentum going.

On to the next one. 👊🏁
