Looks like we got a head start. Most of you learned last week that we suspended ALL practices until further notice.
Today, the Galaxy Ownership group sent this to all teams:
Hello Galaxy Families,
Based on the guidance of state and local governments surrounding COVID-19, the coronavirus, the Galaxy will not host official practices or games through April 3 - aligning with statewide school closures. We will reassess as additional announcements are made in the coming weeks. Several early season tournaments and games have been canceled already. Many of our age groups within SWOL have decided to suspend activities until April 3, and yesterday, Little League suspended its activities nationwide until April 6. The Galaxy is therefore doing its part by suspending official activities and closing our indoor facility. We hope that if we all act responsibly, it will be enough to slow the spread and make it possible for us to have a baseball season - albeit slightly delayed.
We know that many of our families may be anxious to find activities to do. In the next few days, we will send links to you of YouTube videos of drills and practice plans that you can do on your own, in the backyard and with your own equipment. At our coaches meeting yesterday, every coach expressed how excited they are to hit the fields with their players. They have seen improvement and growth and anticipate a great season. Your player can do his part to continue honing his skills and working toward when baseball can resume. If there is anything that we - as a Galaxy family - can do to assist you or your family during these challenging times, please reach out.
Thank you,
James and Karen Vance
