GASTONIA, N.C. (June 5, 2026) — Under warm early June skies, the Carolina Sprint Tour Presented by GSR Chassis returned to Carolina Speedway on Friday evening with 19 IMCA RaceSaver 305 Sprint Cars filling the pit area for the third round of the K-Town Pizza and Pub Mini Series.
The event also welcomed two new faces to the tour as sprint car veterans Tanner Berryhill of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Coby Adams of Mooresville, North Carolina, made their Carolina Sprint Tour debuts.
The night’s action began with Radical Race Gear Hot Laps, where Tyler Lupton continued his impressive speed in the Carber Racing No. 4T, setting fast time with a lap of 15.035 seconds. Unfortunately, the session ended on a sour note when Brooklyn Newman moved to second on the speed chart before making heavy contact with the Turn One wall as the final group took the checkered flag. Newman was uninjured but unable to continue for the remainder of the evening.
Heat race victories went to Biscuit Williams in the No. 17B, Derrek Treece in the No. 15, and Josh Shantz in the No. 18.
Following the redraw, the front row featured an intriguing mix of youth and experience as rookie Caleb Scarborough lined up alongside veteran and series win leader Jake McLain.
When the green flag waved, Scarborough immediately showcased his confidence, driving deep into the corners and defending the preferred high groove. The young driver quickly established himself as the car to beat and began pulling away from the field.
The first major incident of the feature came on lap four when contact between Coby Adams and C.J. Miller on the frontstretch ended Miller’s evening early.
Another caution flew on lap 12 when Aiden Snead suffered heavy contact with the Turn Two wall. The impact was severe enough that Snead’s No. 19 required assistance from two tow trucks to be removed from the racing surface. Thankfully, Snead climbed from the car under his own power and was uninjured.
As the laps wound down, Scarborough faced mounting pressure from a trio of Carolina Sprint Tour heavyweights. McLain, Lupton, and George Loux steadily reeled in the leader as traffic and restarts began to tighten the field.
With just three laps remaining, drama struck again when Lupton spun in Turn Two while battling near the front. In one of the night’s most impressive moments, Loux executed a remarkable evasive maneuver to avoid the spinning No. 4T. Despite inches separating the two cars, no contact was made and both drivers avoided a potentially catastrophic accident.
The final restart would prove to be Scarborough’s defining moment.
The rookie was flawless when the green flag returned, hitting his marks and keeping the veteran challengers at bay over the closing laps. When the checkered flag flew, Caleb Scarborough captured his first career Carolina Sprint Tour Presented by GSR Chassis victory, while also delivering the first series win for car owner Andy Stegall.
In Victory Lane, an emotional Scarborough thanked his team, family, sponsors, and the many friends from the racing community who came out to support him on a memorable night.
