Jason Statham's Martial Arts Journey began long before he became a Hollywood action star. Seeking to become a complete fighter, he explored several martial arts, including Karate for discipline and striking, Kickboxing for power and real-world combat, Wing Chun for close-range efficiency, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for grappling and submissions, and Taekwondo for speed and dynamic kicking techniques. By combining lessons from different styles rather than focusing on just one, Statham developed the versatile fighting skills and athletic movement that would later become a hallmark of his action-movie career.

ONE-Derobio The Art of the Daga: We are resuming work this year on Volume 7 of our Back to the Roots of Eskrima series. Focusing on reality daga work based on the teachings of GGM Pedoy (who was involved in several "cutting affairs" while living in the PI and Hawaii). And our SPKF (sure point knife fighting) curriculum based on hundreds of rounds of full speed full contact knife fighting with safety blades. Ethical Cutting, ie non-lethal bladed applications is a primary focus of this series. Sadly, too often we see daga being taught using lethal applications which in a court of modern US law would not end up in a favorable legal decision even when applied in a legit self-defense situation. Train Hard-Train Safe-Keep it Real. πŸ€™πŸ€™πŸ€™

I held a "demo" class tonight at Americana BJJ in Chico, Ca. It was a nice group (forgot to get photo) from coach Andrew's Chico school. The goal was to introduce our movements of ONE-Derobio to the people at this location. I currently have a Saturday morning class at the Paradise dojo and a couple of private students I meet up with when work schedules permit. I am trying to stay busy perpetuating Derobio and Filipino Martial Arts to people in NorCal. I am grateful to be able to train and teach. I am pushing 78 and hope my health holds out so I can do this for years to come. πŸ€™πŸ€™πŸ€™

So true, we were all beginners at some point in our martial arts journey. As I always remind myself and our instructors, just because you know it, does not mean the student in front of you does, have patience when teaching. πŸ€™πŸ€™πŸ€™
