In association with Oakdale Wing Chun Club, founded by Sifu David Pui Wong, Wing Chun United trains efficiency of natural human movement. There are no rules, no limits, and certainly no attempt to appear to be doing a particular style. With guidance from the fundamental principles of Wing Chun, we study boxing, Taiji and other traditions that lead us back to natural, effective martial movement use
ful against determined opponents - not just a choreographed punch thrown in the dojo. Hence, the name - Wing Chun United, as in, united with other traditions to explore intelligent pugilism. There are no uniforms, no bowing, no belts, no ranks, no tests, no contracts, no hidden fees. We meet at least twice a week: Metairie on Mondays, and Madisonville on Thursdays. The instructor: Mark has trained in martial arts for almost 40 years, initially as an amateur boxer and later in Asian styles. He studied Wing Chun and martial Taiji under Sifu Wong in the United States and briefly with Su D**g Chen. He also studied martial Taiji in China and Singapore under several teachers, but mainly Wang Run Qing in Shanghai. Mark is fluent in spoken Mandarin, practices law, and resides in Madisonville, Louisiana, with his wife and two children. Postscript: Sifu Wong is currently fighting cancer in Minnesota.
