Today we had a guest speaker. A retired Army warrant officer 3 and retired Vietnam veteran who showcased his collection of authentic WWII, WWII, and Vietnam War weapons and war memorabilia.

Steven versus Quinton on the dueling tree. They battled for 8 minutes but we sped it up 4X.

Kids who live in gun free households are in great need of firearm safety training. Why? 2 reasons.

1) Parents who do not own fi****ms often assume their kids will never come across a gun and therefore do not feel the need to make sure their kids know how appropriately react to one.

2) Kids who are not used to seeing guns will likely experience the "awe factor" when they find one making them more likely to want to pick up and handle one if the opportunitt arises.

But how could these children come across one?

Most parents who keep a gun free home do not check to see if the homes their kids visit have guns or if those guns are safely stored. However there are more guns in America than people and 1 in every 3 households have at least one firearm, therefore assuming your child will never be in a house with guns is simply not reasonable.

Most likely they already have been in a house with guns while visiting a relative or attending a playdate but didn't see one due to responsible ownership or just dumb luck. Neither of which are reliable enough to risk a child's safety on.

It's up to the parent to take whatever precautions necessary to ensure their child will know how to appropriately react to fi****ms even if they do not intend on them ever coming across one. One way this can be done is attending a firearm safety class.

Be sure to join us tomorrow for our FREE youth firearm safety event.

Melody pointed out an interesting thing about men, they don't like carrying change so they will often leave their coins behind. (Guilty 🙋🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️) So she decided to utilize that by putting out a donations jar for the Rifle League that they could throw their unwanted change into.

Not only did it quickly gather a lot of coins but many customers also slipped in some ones, fives, and even the occasional twenty. We counted out how much it gathered the first month and were able to get the kids this cool dueling tree.

Can't wait to let them try it tomorrow. Thank you everyone who donated so we can give our shooters the best experiences without rising prices.

Last week we wanted to do something fun and unusual so we set army men as targets for the shooters. I think they had fun.

For those who don't think air rifles are that dangerous. Here is what they did to the back of a chair that we used as a guard.

Super proud of the students tonight. All of them shot fantastically well and most passed their personal best scores.
