Our philosophy is to help student-athletes achieve their potential in athletics, academics, and in life. By establishing the culture of a strong work-ethic, optimistic outlook, and a dedication to their pursuits, our athletes can use these traits to better themselves. these student-athletes train to run fast, throw far or jump and vault high, but they're also training to be successful beyond DSU.

Congratulations to Tysen Grinde on being named the Dakota State University 2025-2026 Outstanding Male Athlete!!

Tysen earned two all-American titles indoor in High Jump(5th) and the Heptathlon(6th)! He then earned his 3rd All-American status of the year by placing 4th place in the Decathlon!

Tysen tied the school record in high jump with a height of 2.08m(6’9.75”) and tied the school record in pole vault with a height of 4.55m(14’11”). His Heptathlon mark and Decathlon are both 2nd all-time at DSU!

Tysen won both high jumps at the indoor and outdoor Frontier Conference Championships! He scored 23 points to be named Men’s Frontier Conference Indoor Field MVP!
