Are you neglecting aerobic work?
-
Crossfit athletes have a dangerous love affair with intensity. Workouts effectiveness are often judged by who much pain and destruction they bring. Anything short of being in a debilitated pile at the end of a metcon “must not have been a very good work out.”
-
I get it. Intensity has an addicting quality and it DOES work.
-
Let’s draw a simple analogy:
A pyramid can only be built as tall as its base is wide. Your aerobic system is the base for how high you can push your intensity. Time spent here directly improves your ability to generate intensity with the added bonus of being much easier to recover from.

Are you neglecting aerobic work?
-
Crossfit athletes have a love affair with the idea that if you don’t finish the workout a debilitated mess that it “must not have been a good workout.” I get it, there’s a strange addictive quality to intensity, not to mention it DOES work.
-
Let’s draw a simple analogy:
The height of a pyramid is determined by the width of its base. In this scenario your aerobic capacity can be considered the base for how HIGH your intensity can go. Sessions like this contribute to building that base, and as an added bonus are easier on your system from a recovery standpoint.

Calm before the storm.

Sunday’s mean a fully cleaned gym and with it a fresh start for the new week.
-
We have testing all this week, starting with a 10 minute capacity test of max calories on the AAB. Throw in some of the classic girls, and a strength test or two. You don’t want to miss it.

Let’s get this new block of training off to a great start. See YOU in the gym this week.
-
