The South Side Raiders Football and Cheerleading program is a youth sports and development program that provides constructive recreational activity to 180 elementary through middle school boys and girls ages 9 through 14, primarily from the South Madison neighborhoods. Smith and is one of the oldest institutions in South Madison. The program promotes community pride, self-esteem, teambuilding, dis

cipline and physical fitness through the sport of youth football and cheerleading. The program is also a prevention program that provides alternatives to alcohol, drug use, gang involvement and other anti-social behaviors. Parent and community volunteers operate the program. In addition to football and cheerleading drills and instruction the program provides mentoring and tutoring support for the youth participants.
