The Madison Heights City motto is “The City of Progress” and it’s well deserved. Approximately 31,000 people call Madison Heights home and enjoy the many benefits of living in our full service and forward thinking community. Ideally located at the juncture of I-75 and I-696 in the metropolitan Detroit region, Madison Heights offers easy access to all that our community and area have to offer singles, families, and businesses. Madison Heights residents and businesses enjoy some of the lowest taxes in Oakland County without sacrificing quality services. Police and Fire services are fully staffed and equipped with the latest gear to protect our residents and businesses should the need arise. Road maintenance services are second to none and residents often joke that there must be a “dome” over the City in the winter time because the roads are so well maintained. Our well staffed City Library offers a variety of books, media and programming throughout the year. As far as recreational opportunities go, the City’s twelve parks, jogging/walking/bike paths, numerous festivals, in-line skate facilities, a 36 acre wooded Nature Preserve with 2,400 square foot Nature Center log cabin as well as a newly expanded County water park within the city limits ensure that recreational opportunities abound for all ages and enthusiasts. The City of Madison Heights is governed by the Council-Manager form of government. This form of government provides for an elected City Council that sets legislative policy and a Council-appointed professional City Manager to supervise the day to day operations of the City. The Clinton River Watershed Council will be in Madison Heights this weekend to stencil storm drains with educational markings. This small but meaningful initiative helps protect our local waterways by reminding residents that these drains lead directly to the river. Sign up to volunteer and to join in supporting this important effort to reduce pollution and keep our storm drains and water resources free of debris and contaminants.

Join CRWC and City of Madison Heights in our Storm Drain Stewards project. We’re looking for 10 - 15 volunteers to help us stencil storm drains on July 27, 9 AM - noon.

The stencils read, "No Dumping, Drains to River" in order to discourage residents from dumping garbage and other contaminants into drains. Register with a friend as we will be stenciling in pairs. Lunch is provided! https://www.crwc.org/events/stenciling-june27

The R-3 scheduled repair of the watermain on Lorenz from 11 Mile to Farnum, starts this week. This begins the watermain portion of the project and the road will remain open to local residential traffic in a restricted capacity during this phase of the project so please plan for a slower commute through that area. Construction of the road will begin later this summer once the watermain portion is complete.

For more information on Road and Watermain projects scheduled this summer as part of R-3 please visit our Projects page on the City website: https://loom.ly/c0cvXUE

We appreciate the continued patience and safe driving of our residents and visitors during this summer construction season!
