UPDATE 3 — THANK YOU FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE, 2nd arrest made!
There is some good news in the effort to recover the items stolen from retired NASCAR Cup Series driver Dave Marcis’ North Carolina home.
Since word first spread about the burglary, the NASCAR community has stepped up in a big way — sharing the story, following the updates and helping keep Dave’s stolen property in the spotlight.
And that effort appears to be paying off.
As of yesterday, Dave and his family are happy to report that they have “lots of it back.”
At least two arrest's have been made and the fi****ms taken during the burglary have been recovered. Some of the charges reportedly stem from specific items that were stolen and subsequently recovered.
The family is still hoping everything will eventually be found and returned. Unfortunately, some items may have already been purchased by people who had no idea they were stolen.
But the message from Dave’s family is simple:
Thank you.
Thank you to everyone who shared.
Thank you to everyone who followed the story.
Thank you to everyone who helped keep Dave Marcis’ name and his stolen racing history in front of the public.
The investigation is not over.
There are still missing items, and investigators are continuing to look into additional suspects and the whereabouts of the remaining property.
And these weren't just ordinary possessions. Among the stolen items were pieces of Dave Marcis’ personal and racing history — irreplaceable reminders of one of NASCAR’s most enduring independent competitors.
If you have information about any remaining items, or come across memorabilia that may have been taken in the burglary, contact investigators rather than attempting to handle the situation yourself.
The goal remains the same:
Bring it all home to Dave.
One more share could be the one that leads to another piece of NASCAR history being returned.
