Our final, monumental Movie in the Park of the year is just around the corner. We are transforming Veterans Park into an ancient jungle under the stars for Jurassic World: Rebirth! 🦕🔥

This is our final outdoor cinema event of the season, and we’re going out with a bang! We'll have a massive screen on the grass, completely FREE popcorn, and ice-cold drinks to keep the whole family happy. It’s the ultimate free family date night! 🍿🥤

And don't forget to bring your appetite and a sweet tooth! Our food vendors for the night are are Sugba Smokehouse and Cooper's Candy Concoctions. AND GoWest transit will be providing free rides to and from the movie, stay tuned for route updates!

TOMORROW: Paws for a short moment, pups. Some major upgrades are on the way! 🐾🛠️🚧
We are officially getting our paws dirty to make your favorite play space better than ever! To tackle the big list of community-requested upgrades and repairs as promised, the Jackie & Dave Thompson Dog Park at Patton Park will be closed for maintenance on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026.

While our furry friends will have to take a one-day break from off-leash chasing, the rest of Patton Park's wonderful 35 acres will remain fully open! You can still take your pup for a leashed stroll along our smooth joint-friendly terrawalk trails or enjoy a quiet moment near the pond with your furry friends.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and support as we continue building memories (and cleaner parks!) through play. Your pups are going to love the new setup and we think they deserve an extra treat for their cooperation! 🐕🎾

Our amazing park maintenance wizards, recreation coordinators, and friendly office crew are taking a little play break of our own to celebrate Labor Day!

Our office will be closed on Monday, September 7th, 2026. We will reopen with our normal hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) on Tuesday, September 8th.

🎨 Vibrant Visitors: The male Eastern Bluebird is a stunning, bright royal blue with a warm reddish-orange chest, making them a breathtaking sight.

🧠 Did You Know? ( Badger Trivia!)
🏡 He's a Local! The American Badger is native and common throughout the northern two-thirds of Illinois, meaning they are right here in McDonough County!
💪 Super Diggers: A badger’s strong front claws can grow up to 2 inches long. They are perfectly built to dig through the tough, woody roots of our native prairie plants and can even tunnel through asphalt or concrete if they are chasing a burrowing snack!
🐺 Wild Team-Ups: Badgers have been known to form hunting partnerships with wild coyotes! The coyote chases prey above ground, while the badger digs from below, making them a formidable nature duo.

EVENT CANCELED! Too hot to trot! 🥵🤠☀️
Phew, Macomb! It is a real scorcher out there today, and the thermometer is climbing just a bit too high for us to safely boot-scoot.

Because of the extreme heat, tonight's session of Summer Line Dance Series with Shannon's Steady Steppers is officially canceled.

To make sure all of our dancers stay safe, cool, and hydrated, we are hanging up our dancing boots for the evening. Since this was our final date for our summer series, there will be no reschedule date for this session.

Please stay inside where the AC is breezy, drink plenty of water, and we hope to see you at the parks again soon! 💧🌳

The Final Bike Pop-Up of the Season! 🚲🌅🍂
The sun is shining, the wildflowers are having their final blooms, and our community bike fleet is ready to head out to Patton Park!

Head down to Patton Park after school or work today from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM for our final Bike Pop-Up of the year! Come stretch your legs on the smooth, traffic-free Terrawalk Trail (a gorgeous one-mile loop), enjoy the late-summer wildflower blooms, and breathe in that wonderful fresh air.

No bike? No helmet? No problem! We have FREE loaner bikes and helmets of all sizes waiting for you on-site. Let’s coast into September and close out our summer adventures together! 🌳
