Now that we have cleaned up and slept, it is time to appreciate the weekend!
What a great final running of 4 Fore 30 it was!
Thank you so much for everyone that was there—runners, volunteers, crews and spectators! When you try to explain an event like this to someone, they typically can’t understand the concept. But when you watch an event like this, it makes sense. There are only a few that can win the event but every one has the opportunity to win against themselves. There are few opportunities for someone to truly see what they are made of but that is the beauty of the backyard ultra, it gives those opportunities. It doesn’t have to go as planned, often in running, it's more about how you overcome the inevitable challenges along the way and in a backyard ultra, how you keep showing up hour after hour despite what challenges have happened in the previous loop(s). It is so inspiring to watch every single person on every single loop. It’s tough on a good day—that’s what we like about it, right?
We can’t thank you enough for choosing to spend your day(s) with us at 4 Fore 30. We have loved this event and all the people who have ever toed the start line.
We have said it before, one of our very favorite things about this event in particular is the relationships we have formed over the years and seeing our friends come back year after year. Like previous years, we met some great people that we will follow and likely meet again somewhere along the way. Speaking of that, check out Die to Run…a new race that has a fun twist to the backyard. The RD, Alan Cox ran with us this weekend. We have penciled in checking it out this May!
We are very close to being able to announce the new event that will be replacing 4 Fore 30. Thanks to many of you who contributed thoughtful ideas to us, we were able to find the missing links that we needed to feel like we have a solid plan!! We will send an email to all previous 4 Fore 30 participants announcing the details before we announce to the public. We hope you find it intriguing and join us next year for more fun in a different format!
Thank you again and Congratulations to Nicholas Steel and Brett Rinehart for a stellar 12 hour battle/partnership to close out this chapter! It was a perfect ending.
