Update: The cataraft has been located and is in tact. Next step is recovery. Thank you to everyone who reached out or expressed concern! I am happy we were able to find it and hopeful for a recovery.
This has been a fairly well covered story. Interesting enough, the “camper” that was rescued from the slide area is a customer of ours. I’ll start by saying he is very lucky to have escaped the situation with only a broken leg. He is trying to stay out of the media as he deals with the trauma associated with the ordeal he has just went through.
With that said, we offered to help. After the initial tsunami like wave that overtook him and his camp, his cataraft was photographed upside down in the pool resulting from the landslide. Although it is highly unlikely his cataraft survived the torent of water and debris, once the landslide was breached, we are seeking any leads.
The boat in question is a Lime Green, AIRE, 2017, 15’ Wave Destroyer. If someone happens to spot it (or part of it) downstream in the Fraser Valley, please let us know. AIRE has a fantastic no fault warranty. If we are able to recover the boat, regardless of condition, they will either fix or replace it for the individual.
We greatly appreciate any leads. Please feel free to share and spread the word. Thanks in advance for the help!
