As I get my brain ready to try something new, this is my mantra. I have watched others for years and wished I could love running like them. I suck at running. I hit a wall, and I am done. If I am being honest, I quit. I give up. I don’t have the STICK WITH IT gene when the going gets tough. I am ready try try again. This time I am not alone. My amazing mom tribe will be doing this with me. Some are runners. Many are not. Ready or not. Let’s do this! #815

Over 30 years ago, my Uncle Pat taught me to slalom ski. Yesterday he took my dad, the boys, and me out on Lake Michigan. It was beautiful. Ryan knee boarded, and Boden got up on the wake surfer for the first time. Thank you, Uncle Pat! We had a blast! @ Chicago, Illinois

I can dream forever, but nothing will change. I need to take action. My compounded daily actions will get me to my goals. I have to remind myself that each time I make a healthy choice like a workout or skipping pop, I am one step closer to my health goals. I remind myself that the old me would have made ALL the wrong choices. Three steps forward and one step back is still forward momentum. #815

With school starting soon, I am wondering...

🌜Do you stay up late & sleep late until the last day

🌞Start going to bed early and wake up early now

Personally, I am a 🌞. I set my alarm for 5:15 today 😳. I didn’t get up at 5:15. I snoozed my alarm 5 times 😴.

I am trying to reclaim my morning rountine. I wasn’t too lazy this summer. I was up by 6 most mornings, but that extra 45 minutes is a big adjustment. Plus, I have to be showered and out of the house by 7:30 for school.

I need to tighten up my morning routine again. Are you ready for this? Like showered. Real clothes. Breakfast. Out the door with kids in tow?

T-minus 12 days until I go back to work. Am I scared? Not really. Am I worried? A little, but not for the reasons you might think. I am a planner. Yes, I have checklist for the beginning of the school year that I print every August. I am very organized. This year just won’t look like any other. With 12 days left, we still don’t know all the answers. We are still figuring things out. As a mother, I am still trying to help my boys get ready for school, but I can’t answer their questions either. Our mantras this year? BE FLEXIBLE. DO YOUR BEST. IT IS WHAT IT IS. That’s all we can expect of ourselves and our children this year. My heart aches for the people who need structure and routine. I feel your pain. Good luck teachers. Good luck parents. Good luck students. #815
