I make my home in Lynchburg, Virginia with my wife of nearly 20 years and our two kids. We’re learning daily what it means to live an Integrated Life where faith, family, and work point in the same direction. I have been a Certified Coach with Maxwell Leadership since 2016. This morning I began reading *Redeeming Your Time* by Jordan Raynor, and one thought immediately challenged me:

*"I don't need to complete my to-do list in order for God's purposes to prevail."*

As I reflected on that statement, I was reminded of a principle we emphasize in Strategic Doers Group:

**Awareness → Choice → Transformation**

**Awareness:** I became aware that I often measure success by how much I accomplish rather than by how faithfully I steward what God has entrusted to me.

**Choice:** I can choose to prioritize what matters most—my relationship with Christ, my family, my calling, and serving others through business—instead of simply reacting to whatever feels urgent.

**Transformation:** Over time, those choices reshape how I steward my time, replacing pressure with purpose and busyness with faithfulness.

Information alone doesn't change us. Awareness must lead to choices, and choices lead to transformation.

Revenue is important.

Profit matters.

But neither tells the whole story.

I've met business owners who exceeded their financial goals and still felt exhausted, disconnected from their families, and uncertain about why they were working so hard.

Success in one area of life cannot fully compensate for neglect in another.

That's why I believe business stewardship is about more than financial performance.

It's about alignment.

Values.
Vision.
Mission.

Because at the end of the day, a business should support the life you're called to live—not replace it.

They were focused on mission.

Today, we remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy and reflect on a question of our own:

What mission is God calling us to faithfully steward?

May we build businesses that serve people, strengthen communities, and leave a legacy worthy of the opportunities we've been given.

We believe business is more than a way to make a living.
It is a calling.
It is a stewardship.
It is a ministry.
Too many businessmen spend their lives chasing success, only to discover that success alone is not enough.
They build companies but neglect their families.
They grow revenue but lose their peace.
They master productivity but struggle to find purpose.
They achieve more and more while wondering why it still feels like something is missing.
The world tells us the answer is better balance.
Work harder.
Work smarter.
Build bigger.
Optimize everything.
We believe the answer is different.
The answer is not balance.
The answer is surrender.
Before there can be stewardship, there must be surrender.
Before there can be excellence, there must be humility.
Before there can be impact, there must be obedience.
We believe every business belongs to God.
Not just churches.
Not just ministries.
Every business.
The construction company.
The law firm.
The accounting practice.
The manufacturer.
The real estate office.
The restaurant.
The family business.
Every enterprise is an opportunity to glorify God by serving people.
Business is not separate from ministry.
Business IS ministry.
We believe God has entrusted businessmen with resources, influence, opportunities, and people.
These are not possessions to own.
They are gifts to steward.
Therefore, we seek first His Kingdom.
We walk humbly with our God.
We steward resources faithfully.
We pursue excellence relentlessly.
We serve people generously.
And we trust God with the results.
We reject the false choice between profit and purpose.
Between success and significance.
Between business and ministry.
We believe faithful stewardship produces excellence.
Excellence creates opportunities to serve people.
Service creates lasting impact.
And lasting impact points people toward Christ.
This is why Strategic Doers Group exists.
To equip faith-driven businessmen to build His business.
Through Integrated Mission.
Through Integrated Life.
Through Integrated Business.
For Integrated Impact.
Not so they can build their kingdoms.
But so they can faithfully steward His.
Because the business was never ours to begin with.
It belongs to Him.
And when we surrender it to Him, everything changes.

Lynchburg’s business community is growing, and I’m grateful to be part of a city where companies continue to invest for the future.

This spring, Strategic Doers Group relocated from the Business Development Centre Inc. after the City of Lynchburg approved the sale of the property to Framatome, effective June 30.

Framatome’s continued investment in Lynchburg is a good thing.
The team at the Business Development Centre also handled the transition professionally and gave tenants plenty of notice.

At the same time, there’s another part of the story worth acknowledging.

For the small businesses that called the BDC home, the move came with real costs:
• moving expenses
• transition time
• operational disruption
• and in many cases, higher rent in new locations

That doesn’t make anyone the “bad guy.” It simply reminds us that major economic development decisions often have ripple effects on smaller businesses too.

Both things can be true:
A large employer expanding can be a win for Lynchburg…
…and there can still be opportunities to better support the entrepreneurs and small businesses affected along the way.

I’m thankful Strategic Doers Group found a great new home at the Old Forest Commercial Center on Old Forest Road.

And I remain grateful to serve alongside so many business leaders in Lynchburg who care deeply about both growth and stewardship.

Strong communities need both:
major employers investing for the future
and small businesses equipped to thrive alongside them.

Today we pause to remember.

On Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country—and we remember that freedom has always come at a cost.

I’m grateful for those who were willing to sacrifice so others could live, work, worship, and build freely.

As a business leader, Memorial Day reminds me that leadership is never just about what we gain.
It’s also about what we’re willing to give.

The best leaders—whether in uniform, at home, in church, or in business—understand that people matter more than personal comfort.

Today I’m thankful for every fallen hero and every family who carries their memory forward.

May we honor their sacrifice not only with our words, but by living with integrity, serving others well, and stewarding the opportunities we’ve been given.

As a big picture thinker, one of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn is this:

Just because I can see 10 steps ahead doesn’t mean I have to build all 10 today.

For years, I thought leadership meant having the perfect plan, the perfect framework, or the perfect system before moving forward.

What I’ve learned instead is that many of the best things are built through faithful action, steady refinement, and learning in motion.

I still think strategically.
I still love systems.
I still care deeply about integration and stewardship.

But I’ve also learned that analysis can quietly become paralysis.

Sometimes the next breakthrough doesn’t come from more planning…
it comes from taking the next faithful step.

That’s one reason I often say:

“Integrated Life is not a problem to solve, but a tension to wrestle with.”

Leadership, family, faith, business, health, rest, growth…
they all require continual adjustment and stewardship.

Not perfection.

One of the greatest lessons from my years in business was learning to operate at 80% and adjust on the go.

Progress with humility will usually take you farther than perfection with hesitation.

Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr. passed away 19 years ago today.

Yet his vision is still impacting lives around the world.

I’ve lived in Lynchburg, Virginia my entire life, and I’ve had the opportunity to watch that impact up close.

In 1971, Dr. Falwell founded a small Bible college connected to Thomas Road Baptist Church called Liberty Baptist College.

Most people would have looked at Lynchburg and thought:
“Why here?”

But vision sees differently.

Over time, that small school became Liberty University — now reaching students across the country and around the world.

In People & Profit, I wrote about how his vision was simple but powerful:

“To train Champions for Christ.”

That vision outlived him.

And that’s what real vision does.

Vision is not about building something for yourself.
It’s about stewarding something bigger than yourself that continues impacting people long after you are gone.

As business leaders, entrepreneurs, pastors, and parents, that’s a question worth asking ourselves today:

What are we building that will outlive us?

Not just financially.
Not just organizationally.
But spiritually and generationally.

Legacy is not merely what we leave behind.

It is what continues through the people we invest in.

Thankful today for the impact Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr. had on Lynchburg, on Christian leadership, and on generations of people pursuing their calling.
