Should you freak out and toss every item you know?
Not necessarily.
But being aware helps you to avoid these ingredients when you can.
Got a favorite lipstick? Keep it.
But perhaps you can look into some healthier options for the rest of your cosmetics and skin care.
Remember, these items are on your skin (and therefore IN your skin) every day.

Are your personal products really safer for you aka β€œclean” β€œnatural” etc?
β€œNatural” isn’t always as innocent as it sounds.
For companies that don’t really want to clean up their act, but still want your money, β€œnatural” can mean a bottle full of chemicals with a minimalist label to get your attention and a higher price tag.
Be aware of products that say β€œnatural fragrance”. Companies are not required to list these ingredients as to not give away their β€œtrade secrets” so β€œfragrance” can actually mean a cocktail of hundreds of different synthetic and natural πŸ™„ ingredients.
It IS expensive to do a complete overhaul on all of the products we use daily, especially if we are also going to throw house cleaning items as well.
Start small!
Grab all of your items that you use DAILY.
Look them up on the EWG database. (Can’t find your brand? Look up the ingredients instead, starting specifically with anything you can’t pronounce easily- chances are it was made in a lab).
Got a few items that don’t rank too poorly? Hang on to them!
As for the rest, research some better options so you can slowly start to replace them as you run out.
No need to drop half a paycheck trying to replace everything at once!
