Howdy folks! Bill Crawford here, and as some of you know I took over as the head coach of Liberty Universities Action Shooting Team earlier this year. Just a few months before the national championship to be exact. Well, the team came together and we actually went to Talladega, AL (JUST before COVID shut everything down) and won all four disciplines in which we shot, bringing home a national championship. The young people on this team are phenomenally dedicated, and just plain wonderful people. COVID has hurt us, but we have continued to practice and develop and we're really hoping that things will clear up by March for the collegiate nationals again. The reason for this post is that tomorrow is a big fundraiser day for all of the sports at Liberty, but obviously I'm just asking for my team! If you know me, you know I'm not one to ask for hand outs, but I don't see it that way for this event. These kids EARN every penny they get with hard work, dedication, and being strong members of the shooting community. Donations (see link above...and maybe below...I'm confused by technology) can be as little as $5, but $10 counts towards a bonus that I am hoping for us to earn. I love these kids with all my heart, and I have poured hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars into fi****ms for them to use. But if you're a fan of shooting sports, you know it costs a lot to shoot, especially at the high levels at which this team is capable. I'll keep providing them with fi****ms, but we can definitely use help with ammo, upgrades to fi****ms, and travel expenses.
Also, Liberty Club Sports does these events/fundraisers RIGHT! If you contribute to the Action Shooting Team, 100% of the money comes straight to the team. No fees, no administrative costs, no "we'll take all the money and then give you what we think you need." If you donate $10, the team gets $10, period. Hard to beat that, and I wouldn't be asking if I didn't feel strongly that it was being handled well.
Finally, the "contest" we're in with other teams is for the number of $10 donations. So I'm not asking for you to make huge donations, no need to be greedy. But if you're inclined to donate $20, I might suggest making two $10 donations. :D If we are in the top five of all Club Sports teams, they are adding an additional $1,000-$7,500 to the top teams! So we're hoping for lots of small support! And now that we have a FB page for the team, look for me to start posting more about the team as time progresses. This team is full of "my kids" and I want to help them succeed as best I can!
THANKS!!
"Coach Bill"
