Gotham Baseball Gotham Baseball covers the Past, Present, and Future of New York Baseball. We won’t do that here. Instead, I’ll try to simply tell you about Gotham Baseball.

There is always a temptation to write an “About” page on a website in a corporate manner. “Blah-blah was established in 1992 …” and so on. Gotham Baseball has been and is many things; a print magazine, a popular website and message board, a podcast, and a multi-platform product with a digital magazine and podcast component. But really, it’s a celebration of New York Baseball. The “past, present an

d future of the New York game”, as our tagline goes. We had our fans from the get-go, as Amazon.com tabbed us as one of the Top 10 New Magazines of 2005 (and the only sports magazine on the list), We published as a print-omly product from 2005-2008, and to out great pride and joy, the entire run was selected and is now part of the permanent archive at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s A. Bartlett Giamatti Research Center in Cooperstown, NY.

We’ve tried our hand at broadcast with a great deal of success, as well as bringing back the magazine in digital form. Now with a new website design, we’re hoping that we can reach even more NY baseball fans than ever. Earlier this week, a prominent baseball person told me that the Mets ’ decision to let Pete Alonso walk and sign with the Orioles
is like when the Yankees let Reggie Jackson walk away to sign with the Angels after the 1981 season.

They went on to say that the “Mets fans are going to revolt when Pete hits like 40-plus home runs next year. The Orioles come to Citi Field in September, right? Remember ‘Steinbrenner sucks?’ I could definitely see that happening.”
