The roaring cheers from Rikert Outdoor Center might still be ringing in the EISA racers' ears, even a week after the carnival season came to a close with the EISA Championships. Hosted by Middlebury College last weekend in Ripton, Vermont, the final stop of the 2026 carnival circuit was truly a set of races to be remembered. Family and friends lined the trails with cowbells, posters, speakers, flags, horns, boomboxes, and yes, even chainsaws, which created a wall of sound unlike anything the EISA has seen all season. Quincy Massey-Bierman, a senior on the Middlebury ski team, explained that the rowdy scene was a strong motivation for her final two EISA race performances. "It was electrifying and inspired me to push myself to the limit," Massey-Bierman said. "It filled me with so much joy and enthusiasm, even in the tough races."

HANOVER, N.H. – On Tuesday morning, the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association announced its weekly awards, recognizing Ava Thurston and John Steel Hagenbuch as the organization's Nordic Skiers of the Week.

Thurston, earning her second EISA weekly award, posted two podium finishes at the Middlebury Carnival, helping the Big Green to their second straight EISA Championship.

On Friday, Thurston won the 7.5K classic by 1:07 seconds, skiing to her fifth classic win of the season. She wrapped the carnival with a second-place finish in the 20K freestyle, concluding the EISA circuit with her fifth freestyle podium.

Hagenbuch shined on the men's side in his first races back with the Big Green after making his Olympic debut for Team USA. He opened the carnival with a win in the 7.5K classic, crossing the finish line 1:05 faster than the second-place finisher.

On Saturday, he secured his second win of the weekend in the 20K freestyle, winning by a margin of 1:55. Hagenbuch's two wins led Dartmouth to podium sweeps in both events, as Dartmouth took home its fourth carnival win of the season and second EISA Championship.

The Big Green will return to action on March 4 for the 2026 NCAA Championships, held in Park City and Midway, Utah. More information on the NCAA team and results will be available on DartmouthSports.com.

The fifth carnival of the season brought EISA skiers to Prospect Mountain in Woodford, Vermont, for a weekend of racing hosted by Williams College. After almost a month of racing in cold temperatures, the weather finally took a warmer turn. On Friday, the skiers were greeted by sunny, bluebird skies as they prepared for their races. Quinn McDermott, a sophomore on the Williams ski team, said that the conditions at Prospect Mountain were the best he had seen all year. He "couldn't have be happier" with how the weather turned out for his home carnival.
