What a weekend for the Crenshaw Crushers. 🌊⚾️

The TBUSA Mother’s Day Splash in PCB gave us a little bit of everything… flooding, sunshine, and a whole lot of fun.

Saturday started with a lot of heavy rain. The boys had just started their first game when the tournament was forced into a rainout. After the long walk back to the cars and a complete reset, the Crushers came back Sunday ready to work.

And work they did.

The boys restarted pool play Sunday morning and battled their way to two pool play wins, earning the #3 seed out of 14 teams heading into bracket play. From there, they dug deep and fought through two more bracket wins, including an absolute marathon that went three extra innings. These boys played five games across roughly 13 hours Sunday.

In the end, the Crushers finished Runner-Up in the Gold Bracket out of 14 teams, and we could not be more proud of this group. Their grit, teamwork, resilience, and love for each other showed all weekend long. 💙❤️

What a way to wrap up the spring season.

I sit here in tears trying to find the words to say to describe such a wonderful young kid who everyone loved as we mourn his passing! As coaches and parents of youth sports we see ourselves as the leaders of young kids and we want them to mimic our actions and demonstrations on the field to make them better, but when something so tragic happens you realize that these kids are our lives 5 days a week at practice and games. We see them in the school pickup lines, at church, at local restaurants and we high five them and hug them just because we know how excited kids get to see coach! We take those moments for granted as just another day, A see you tomorrow bud! A great game last night! This has been a huge wake up call to love these kids deeply! Make it more than just a game! A game they love. Eli was such an amazing kid with an amazing family! Kids strived to be like Eli and he will forever be with us! As he plays on the field of dreams we will never forget you buddy! We love you more than you ever knew! I want to encourage as many people to come to cages & Christ next week at Thorsby park an rec as we pray for the family, coaches, teammates and friends!
