🏟️ Our home fields, the Oscar Cooler Sports Complex, has deep roots in Lutz baseball ⚾️
Before there was a sports complex, the area was largely orange groves. 🍊In the early 1970s, Lutz resident Oscar Cooler wanted to create a place for local children to play.
In 1975, the original park opened with three baseball fields—giving Lutz its first dedicated youth baseball facility.
Cooler went on to serve as president of Lutz Little League for 15 years and remained a longtime supporter of the baseball programs at the park. His contributions were eventually recognized when the complex was named Oscar Cooler Sports Complex.
The 51 year old park has since grown far beyond those original three baseball fields, but baseball remains part of the foundation on which the complex was built.
And that’s a pretty incredible piece of history for the Lutz Aces: the fields where generations of Lutz kids have played baseball trace their roots all the way back to one local man who believed the community needed a place for its kids to play.
