This picture makes me smile for more reasons than one. 😂❤️
That handsome guy Devin on the left isn’t just showing off his muscles 💪—he’s showing off something even better: how far the horse underneath him has come.

Not too long ago, this horse came into our program with quite the résumé… bucking, rearing, bolting, and generally making sure his rider stayed humble. 😅 He wasn’t exactly the kind of horse where you thought, “You know what would be fun? Let’s take our hands off the reins and strike a pose!” 😂

But THIS is why we do what we do.

Today, instead of a rider wondering what might happen next, we have a horse walking down the trail relaxed, quiet, and comfortable enough for his rider to joke around and show off those “guns.” 💪🤣

Training isn’t always about making a horse perform better. Sometimes the biggest victories are teaching them that they don’t have to be afraid, defensive, or constantly looking for an escape. It’s watching their body soften, their mind settle, and their confidence begin to replace the chaos.

There’s still more work ahead, but moments like this are worth celebrating. ❤️

From buck, rear & bolt… to “Hey, take my picture while I flex!” 😂🐴💪

That relaxed horse underneath all that silliness? That’s the real flex.
M&M is also a great pasture mate to Mr. T on the right. Who our Beautiful Kayla is riding.

A video of Barbie Nightmare is blowing up …again…. People in the comments talking about how skinny and sad the poor pony is….

I think some people need to learn that not every pony is a “quarter pony” sometimes they are crossed with all sorts of breeds. Shapes, sizes, etc.🫠

This pony is two coming three. Losing her two year old caps. Butt high. Long legged. Goofy looking right now. I promise she will fill out, it just takes time. BUT she is NOT one that should wait. She is skittish, reactive, and sensitive. I don’t know about you but I’d don’t want to deal with something that weighs 800lbs and all of those things. Starting her now is what’s best for her. Starting her now is what will save her life.

She is fine to carry Bree. We don’t work her hard everyday, although I think she does need that…. We just don’t have the time, or I promise we would.

And honestly if you care so much about her buy her🤷‍♀️ I’d love to have her off my feed bill.

She will remain constantly for sale but we will continue working on her when we can. I did not seek out this pony, she was brought to us.

Heat index is going to be sky high once again today! Looking like 115🥵 there will be no riding.

Also we will likely have another consignment horse/pony coming in next week!🤞 first look will be for subscribers!

I know the subscription might be annoying to some of you… and I get that. I promise I do. But we are trying hard to make this page profitable. We love sharing our little corner of the world but as many know it’s not ✨at all✨free…. This is just ONE way we try to bring in a little money to keep doing what we are doing. Again we appreciate any and all support! It really means everything to us🖤

🐴 THE UPDATE EVERYONE HAS BEEN WAITING FOR! 🐴 Bull Run Ranch Fans and All the people that reached out.
Many of you followed this handsome bay horse, M&M, before he came to Key Training & Horsemanship. His previous owner made the responsible decision not to sell him as a children’s horse because, underneath that sweet face, he had some serious behaviors that needed to be addressed.
Bucking. Rearing. Bolting. Avoiding being caught. Turning everything into a game. And very little trust when it came to handling his feet.
He wasn’t a “bad horse.” He was a horse who had learned how to avoid pressure, protect himself and take control when he felt unsure. Our job has been to listen, figure out what he needs and begin replacing those reactions with confidence, trust and respect.
M&M has now been in our training program for approximately one month, and we are proud of the progress he is making!
✅ He is being ridden at the walk, jog and canter in the arena and on trails
✅ We are working through his catching and avoidance habits
✅ His feet are being corrected and he has received shoes
✅ He is learning that farrier work does not have to be frightening so much that he reared up in the cross ties.
✅ We are finding out what equipment that helps him feel comfortable and perform his best
✅ Most importantly, he is learning to trust the people handling him
Today was our very first day with no funny business. We are beyond proud of him.
A special thank-you goes to our patient and kind farrier. M&M had genuine trust issues surrounding his feet, and instead of rushing or fighting him, our farrier gave him the time and reassurance he needed. Moments like these are a very important part of rebuilding a horse—not just getting a job done.
While this is wonderful progress, we want to be completely honest: M&M is not a finished horse, and one good month does not erase established behaviors. He will remain in our program for several more months while we continue building consistency, confidence and a dependable foundation.
Real training is not about forcing quick results. It is about finding the cause of the behavior, correcting the physical concerns, earning the horse’s trust and teaching him how to make better choices—even when he feels uncertain.
This is only Chapter One of M&M’s journey. We’ll continue sharing his progress, his challenges and the little victories that happen along the way. Follow along to see what patience, consistency and fair horsemanship can accomplish. ❤️🐴
