No Singletrack Showdown this year.

Too much sailing this summer! Stay tuned for a potential winter fat bike race in the Ludington School Forest though. We typically get a 10 day window where the trail is just spectacular. It would be nearly impossible to pick a date where those conditions exist. But while grooming the past couple of years I've felt, "man, we should have a bike race next weekend" so we might try that.

Many of you are West Michigan-based riders and the Shoreline Cycling Club spends a great deal of volunteer time grooming trails in Mason and Manistee Counties. Memberships are cheap and the money goes directly to insurance, equipment and repairs for grooming operations.

OMG. What a blast. Thank you so much to the volunteers that helped and the racers that braved the snow that showed up 90 minutes early. Here are the results. Stay tuned for a potential groomed fat bike race on short notice this winter. We’re going to wait until the trails are perfect and then hold a race. Maybe.

GPS says 7 miles of Singletrack, wheel sensor says 8. So either a 16ish or 18ish mile bike race tomorrow.

A couple of tidbits after riding and clearing the course. It's a little longer this year, or GPS never really measured it accurately, but the trail section is ~8.2 miles, it was 8.5 but I lopped off two ugly off camber turns and a pair of concrete disc golf tee boxes that have yet to be buried and that should shorten it up. The walking trails that we use will not be completely cleared. The dog walkers on those trails prefer the leaves on them to keep their dogs feet cleaner, so I just blew corners and intersections.
