Not out of motivation.
Not because I had energy.
Not because it was convenient.
But because I made a decision a long time ago:
𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲>𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀
If I only did what I felt like doing, I’d probably still be on the couch with a bag of chips and an “I’ll start Monday” mindset.
And if we’re being real…
that mindset doesn’t just show up in workouts.
It shows up in life.
In our walk with God.
In parenting.
In marriage.
In our goals.
The truth is—
You will not always feel like doing the things that are good for you.
You won’t always feel like training.
You won’t always feel like reading the Word.
You won’t always feel like eating clean, waking up early, or being consistent.
But discipline kicks in where motivation runs out.
I was reading Matthew 16 the other day, and this part hit hard:
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Deny. Himself. Daily.
That’s discipline.
That’s doing what’s right, even when it’s hard.
That’s saying, “God, I trust Your way over my feelings.”
It’s not always flashy or cool.
It’s not always rewarding in the moment.
But over time?
It’s the kind of training that transforms everything—from your body to your heart to your home.
If you’re in a season where everything feels hard—
if you’re tired, burnt out, and your discipline is running on fumes…
Let this be your reminder:
🛠️ Do it tired.
🙏🏽 Pray when it’s dry.
💪🏽 Train when you’re unmotivated.
📖 Read the Word even when it’s quiet.
God honors that.
Your body will respond to that.
And your kids are watching all of that.
Your spouse is watching that.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to keep showing up.
Discipline is the bridge between who you are today…
and the version of you God is calling you to become.
