LINE OF CHEXY LENAS
Letty is a 2014 AQHA sorrel rabicano mare. She is a daughter of Shine On Line (by Shining Spark - a legend in the reining horse world) x daughter of Smart Little Lena (a legend in the cutting horse world).
The legendary stallion Shining Spark was one of the crown jewels of American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame horsewoman Carol Rose’s breeding program. He was sired by the Doc Bar son Genuine Doc, and out of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame mare Diamonds Sparkle. Tim McQuay guided Shining Spark to be the 1993 AQHA junior reining world champion, and the following year they won the National Reining Horse Association Derby, with a 230.5 score. Shining Spark retired with earnings of $62,674 in his career. While he was a successful show horse, it was as a sire that he cemented his legacy as a legend. He has sired 1,316 registered American Quarter Horse foals to date from 26 crops, that have earned 37,546 AQHA points and more than $10.2 million in performance earnings. He is an NRHA Four Million Dollar Sire and a National Reined Cow Horse Association Four Million Dollar Sire.
Smart Little Lena’s low, flowing snaky cutting style won the 1982 NCHA Futurity. He followed that win with first-place finishes in the NCHA Super Stakes and Derby. After earning $577,652 in just eight shows, Smart Little Lena was retired to the breeding shed. As a sire, Smart Little Lena was outstanding, with money-earning foals in every performance discipline. In AQHA competition, his offspring earned 9,744.5 points and 22 world championships, along with $216,387. In the National Reining Horse Association competition, his foals earned $686,470. In the National Reined Cow Horse Association, they earned $973,136.95 But Smart Little Lena’s foals were primarily destined for the cutting pen and NCHA, where they earned $34.9 million. As a maternal grandsire, his grandget earned 14,979.5 points in AQHA competition and $567,224. In NRHA competition, they earned $1.8 million; in NRCHA competition, they earned $2.56 million; and in NCHA, they earned $50 million. Smart Little Lena was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2015.
Letty had several months of reining training prior to us purchasing her. We bought her in December of 2017 and since then she's been ridden at the local sale barns in NW Iowa and SE South Dakota. Dynamite comes in small packages as she is extremely cowy and is a lot of fun in the sorting pen. Letty stands 14.2 & is very sure footed. She takes her leads easily, has a great stop & can spin a hole in the ground.
Letty is 5 panel N/N & AA for agouti.
She is expecting a foal by Ima Pale Face Cash in 2027.
