We have our first winner and we would like to congratulate Chili Bowl prediction winner James Smithey! James and many others knew in their heart that Bell couldn't be stopped this year and he was randomly picked to be the grand prize winner. Dan Gurney, 1931-2018

It is with the deepest sadness I report of the passing of one of my Boyhood, young adult and all-time idols. Dan Gurney has and always will be American Motorsports. To try and list his accomplishments would take almost an entire day. To try to explain the impact he has had on American Motorsports would be impossible in word or phrase.

One of the greatest honors of my entire career was shaking the hand of Dan Gurney. In my mind the most influential man American Motorsports ever. As a driver, manufacturer, engineer and Motorsports team owner he was at the top of his game each and every time asked. My heart is certainly heavy as I say these words. I'll finish with the most important of all. Godspeed.
