Fall is here and before the memories leave my old man brain I going to start some weekly high lights of bucks from the past. Twenty plus years of guiding has made for many memories with whitetails .
First one is going to be the Dave Jones buck. Dave past alway a few weeks ago and I was saddened to hear. He was always full of laughs and a talented taxidermist. He and his brother Harve hunted turkeys with me for many years. Cheers buddy you were one of the good ones

Only real deer junkies can understand the epic find Jaxson and his cousins found today. This shed is 8 years old and soon as I seen it I knew who he was a buck named “Lightning “. Probably one of the most famous deer to walk our place. He grew this shed in 2017 and a friend and client killed him in 2018. His fame was in part to him being big but his daylight visibility was probably more rare. Jax has a passion for deer and is a sponge for learning every deer related. How the deer known as Lightning was so visible and this shed was hiding for 8 years is beyond me. The day he fell was a celebration and sad all at the same time. His mount hangs in Indiana and a replica here in Kansas. Whitetail are truly amazing and he gave us yet another thrill today thanks
