I am incredibly proud of this group of clients today!

About seven weeks ago, we set out with a goal: train for and tackle the Joyful Ventures 5k. Today, everyone absolutely rocked it!

For some, this was their first-ever 5k. For others, it was the perfect challenge to get back into running. Seeing the dedication over the last two months has been amazing, and the momentum isn’t stopping here. A few are already setting their sights on a 10k or a half marathon next!

I’m beyond excited to partner with Joyful Ventures again this year for their 7th Annual 5k & Family Joy Walk on May 17th in Lubbock, TX! 🏃‍♂️💨

Joyful Ventures is a non-profit dedicated to raising money and awareness for breast cancer and Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH). 100% of the 5k registration proceeds go directly to this incredible cause, supporting individuals and families affected by these life-changing diagnoses.

But we’re taking it a step further…

When you join my 6 Weeks to 5K Training Program, you'll not only prepare to run your best (or first!) 5k, but I’ll also be donating a percentage of every enrollment back to Joyful Ventures. That means every step you take helps provide resources and support to those facing these challenges.

When working with my clients, I often find that they are unsure of how to quickly look at a nutrition label and make an informed decision about the foods they are eating. I made a quick 5 step guide to gather the basics of the food label.

In addition to these 5 steps, it's also important to note the saturated fat and protein content for the things you're choosing to buy in the store.

In general, we want to limit our saturated fat content because this is the type of fat that can cause things like increased abdominal fat and cholesterol.

Protein is important because this is what helps us build and retain lean muscle that you're working so hard for in the gym. On average, we should be consuming at least 90-100 grams of per day from various sources.

Imagine what you could accomplish by dedicating just 15-30 minutes a day to your health.

Here are 4 stretches that will help with your lower back pain. Do these before bed to help put you in a relaxed mood and increase your sleep quality.

1. Child's Pose: This stretch gently elongates the lower back muscles, relieving tension and increasing flexibility. It also decompresses the spine, promoting relaxation in the surrounding musculature. Hold this pose for 30-40 seconds while breathing deeply.

2. Cat-Cow Stretch: This dynamic stretch improves spinal mobility and loosens tight muscles around the lower back. It also encourages better posture and alignment by targeting both the upper and lower spine. Repeat this stretch 8-10 times.

3. Knees-to-chest stretch: This stretch reduces tension in the lower back by gently stretching the glutes and hip flexors, which are often tight and contribute to back discomfort. It also promotes relaxation in the lumbar spine. Hold for 30-40 seconds each leg.

4. Pigeon pose: This stretch opens tight hips by stretching your hip, flexors, glutes, and piriformis and also helps ease the pain from sciatica. Hold this for 30-40 seconds on each side.
