Different car. Legendary number. Best laps yet. 🏁🔥

Saturday night, TJ strapped into the #4 Barney McRae throwback for just his second race ever in a Legend car — and took another big step forward.

TJ brought the #4 home 8th in the main event and turned his personal-best Legend lap of 14.077 during the feature.

We knew moving into Legends was going to come with a learning curve. These cars are completely different, and right now every lap is about learning, gaining confidence, and finding a little more speed.

To come away with a top-10 finish and a new personal best in only race #2 is something we’re pretty proud of.

There’s a lot more to learn and a long way to go, but the progress is already showing.

And getting to do it behind the wheel of a #4 Barney McRae throwback made this one even more special.

P8. 14.077. Race #2. Keep building. 💪🏁

We’ve had a lot of questions about what adding the Legend Car means for TJ and Haggett Motorsports, so we wanted to explain where we’re headed.

First and most importantly — our 2026 season at Thunder Road is NOT over.

We started this season with goals in our Street Stock, and we fully intend to finish what we started. TJ and the entire team will continue competing at Thunder Road through the remainder of the season.

The Legend Car simply marks the beginning of the next chapter at the same time we’re finishing this one.

Currently, Haggett Motorsports owns and maintains TJ’s Street Stock. TJ also competes in the Pro 4 Modified, which is owned and maintained by Hell or High Water Racing, and we’re incredibly grateful for that opportunity.

After this season, our plan is to sell the Street Stock. At that point, the Legend will be the only race car owned and maintained by Haggett Motorsports for the the time being.

Why Legends?

Because we believe it’s the right next step for TJ’s development.

At 14 years old, our biggest priority isn’t collecting trophies — it’s building a race car driver.

We want TJ getting seat time. We want him learning throttle control, racecraft and car control. We want him experiencing different tracks, different competitors and different situations. We want him racing against drivers who are more experienced than he is, because that’s how he’s going to get better.

This past weekend reinforced that decision. He shared the track with experienced Semi-Pro, Masters and Pro-level Legend drivers and showed us that he’s ready to start learning at this level.

But there’s another important part of this:

Owning only a Legend does NOT mean TJ will only race Legends.

We aren’t closing the door on Thunder Road, or any other opportunity that may come TJ’s way.

If someone offers TJ an opportunity to race at Thunder Road, or anywhere else, and we believe it’s a good opportunity for his development, we’re going to consider it.

Someday Haggett Motorsports may own another type of race car again. We don’t know what the future holds or exactly where this journey will take us.

What we do know is where we’re headed next.

We’re going to finish this season at Thunder Road with everything we’ve got while beginning the process of learning this Legend Car and preparing for what comes next.

One chapter isn’t ending before the next begins. For a little while, we’re fortunate enough to be writing both.

One percent better every day.

Day one in a Legend car is in the books. 🏁

TJ fired off 13th, raced his way forward, fought a loose race car, learned a TON about throttle control and ultimately brought it home 14th.

Best lap of the day: 14.2 — with the Pros around 13.7.

But the stopwatch only tells part of the story. What meant the most was how quickly TJ started to adapt and that giant smile on his face everytime he got out of the car.

We’re not going to make this bigger than it was. We have a lot to learn and a lot of work ahead of us.

But for day one?

We’ll take it.

One day. One race. One percent better.

The journey continues. 🏁 U.S. Legend Cars / INEX Racing Series New England Legend Car Tour WMMP

Well… these certainly aren’t going on the Mustang. 👀

Tomorrow is going to be a pretty big day for TJ Haggett and Haggett Motorsports.

Any guesses what we’re up to? 😏

If you already know… don’t ruin it. Let everyone else guess.

We’ll see you at the track tomorrow. 🏁
