We are seeing multiple sources issue tornado and extreme weather watches and warnings for the storms headed our way. We are canceling classes for the best interest in the safety of our KMA Dojo families, especially for those who travel a good distance for training.

We hope the weather doesn't end up being as extreme as the last time there were these level of concerns, but better to be safe than sorry. Please stay safe tonight!

HAPPY DOJO CHALLENGE DAY!

Competition skills are going to be so 🔥 that we had to have some rain this morning to keep us cool.

Doors open at 7:30am, with check-in for competitors and spectators concluding at 8:45am. Then we'll get started with competition no later than 9am.

HAPPY DOJO CHALLENGE WEEKEND!

We're having an Open Gym Practice tonight (Friday, June 5th) at the Lowell Intermediate School 6pm-6:30pm. This is a great opportunity to get some final moments of prep and to practice on the new tournament mats.

ALL competitors are welcome to attend this open gym, KMA student or otherwise 🤝

GRAND CHAMPION RETURNS 🏆

We're only THREE days away from the Dojo Challenge! We're excited to award these Made-in-USA Executive Belt and Certiciate Displays to the winners of each Grand Champion division.

We have 7 Grand Champion divisions for this year, and we wouldn't be able to make these awards happen without the help of Redwood Landscape, another Gold Level sponsor! They service NW Indiana and Chicagoland, and were one of the first sponsors for this year. We're so thankful for their support in providing these awards!

June is an EXCITING month for KMA 🤩

Firstly, today and tomorrow are our Buddy Classes! Your buddy will earn a FREE spectator pass to our Dojo Challenge this Saturday to see what sportsmanship and friendly martial arts competition is all about.

Secondly, help us wish a Happy Birthday to all of our June Birthdays! (We'll be celebrating KMA's birthday at the end of the month, don't worry 😁)

With it officially being June, our Summer Attire kicks in! You can skip you KMA gi top if you so choose - just be sure to have on your KMA t-shirt in its place.

We also know that outdoor activities will be in high frequency, so be vigilant with cleaning your feet and footwear before heading to the dojo.

NEW FOR DOJO CHALLENGE 2026 🤩

As many of you may have heard (or even seen) this cycle, we now have our own tournament mats!

When getting in new mats, they have to be cleaned before usage. This process means dismantling our dojo mats to make room for "drying chairs" that hold the mats after we scrub, power wash, and wipe down each mat individually. A BIG shout out to Mike, Hailey, Sarah, Ms. Becky, Mr. Oliver, and Senpai Ben helping out with the cleaning process over the past few weeks! Senpai Jennifer and Sensei Gage would have taken waaaaaaaay longer to do it all by themselves 😬

We also want to thank Allstate Insurance Agent: Nicole Kasparian for being a Gold Level Sponsor for this year's Dojo Challenge!
