What a month! Black History Month is a time when we intentionally recognize and celebrate the legacy, excellence, and impact of our Blackness. To be honored alongside impactful leaders who have done and continue to do great work throughout Louisville is truly humbling. Words cannot fully express how I feel.
For me, it’s not only about the work I have put in on the field in the game of football, but also the continued work within the communities around me. There is no place like home.
The work has never been about recognition. It has always been about purpose and impact.
I want to thank God for ordering my steps and leading me to do the things I have done. He gets all the credit.
I want to thank my mother for instilling in me my faith, the faith that taught me that to whom much is given, much is required. Thank you, Mama, for showing me how to walk this journey with faith as my compass. To my dad, thank you for introducing me to the game of football, for showing me a true father’s love, and for being my biggest supporter as I’ve journeyed through the game and through life. To my wife Shannon and my kids Micayla, Jamon Jr, Sophia Lea, I pray that I am an example that if God be for you, nothing can stand against you. I hope you believe you can do anything you set your mind to.And to everyone that has supported me along this journey in any way, I carry you with me. Thank you for being my village. You have been the wind under my wings.
I want to thank Councilwoman Crystal Bast and her office, along with her support staff, Charlie Bell, Bradley Bearden, and everyone who had a hand in this decision. Thank you for choosing me and for taking notice of the work I have done.
I am excited to represent District 14 and energized for the opportunities ahead of us.
To Valley High School and Valley Station, get ready. We are turning things up.
Thank you, Louisville Metro Council, and thank you to the city of Louisville for the opportunity to serve this community.
Be the change you want to see.
