F.O.C.U.S. Basketball Academy

F.O.C.U.S. Basketball Academy Focus On Character = Ultimate Success We will promote a positive, productive and challenging environment. FOCUS is shaped by four main pillars of idealogy.

1.

Mission Statement
FOCUS Basketball Academy is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide positive role models and aid in the character development of youth. We build positive self-worth and promote diversity by engaging kids in fun and competitive play. Through lessons learned in our program, our goal is to increase the chances that youths will make positive choices and become independent and productive members of society. Academics
We are committed to reinforcing the importance of education to the youth of our program. We hold high expectations for all of our members in regards to them putting forth their best effort in the classroom.

2. Athletics
We feel that participation in the sports is a great tool to teach skills that can be utilized to help youth better understand the qualities needed to be successful, as well as, lessons that can be beneficial to them throughout their lives.

3. Character
The qualities that are essential to having good character are the central theme of our academy and are constantly reinforced through different elements of the program.

4. Community
We stress to our members the importance of having a sense of responsibility to give back to the community.

I’m truly honored and humbled‼️ I’m just a kid from West Louisville. Dad, I hope your youngest son has made you proud (RIP) Mom, thank you for never giving up on me. I know I wasn’t the easiest kid to deal with. I appreciate you always standing by my side. To my brothers and sister, THANK YOU for always being there. To my big brother Kevin (RIP), I miss you so much. THANK YOU for ALWAYS allowing your little brother to tag along. Also thank you to all of my coaches that were a part of my journey. TODAY, I’m introducing you to the Voices of Victory behind The Resilience Project. These are real people with real stories of rejection, setbacks, grief, disappointment, redirection, healing, faith, resilience and triumph.

I’ll be highlighting these incredible contributing voices individually—because every story deserves its own moment.

During Su***de Prevention Month, we are reminding our community of something important: Stories can save lives. Conversations can create connection. Resilience can be strengthened.

And on Sunday, September 20, from 3–5 PM, we’re bringing the conversation together at The Resilience Forum.

Rondo Chess Academy Director Trent Findley’s exclusive interview on Saturday, 8/29/26 with ALTbasketball’s Gibran Crook during the second event in Louisville KY at the Jesse E. Barnett Jr. Enrichment Center.

This event was hosted by F.O.C.U.S. Basketball Academy and Tim Barnett.

More than a dozen middle and high schoolers were in attendance. Rajon Rondo told us that he wants everyone to bring a friend with them the next time they come.

Pierre Rondo had new North Oldham Basketball transfer teammate Josh Smith Jr. with him at this event.

You can see how the Rondo Academy Chess Events will explode with more basketball players from across the state of Kentucky and Indiana coming these next months.

All students are welcome regardless if they have any chess experience or not. Everyone is here to have fun playing together and there are instructors in support.
