The Fern Creek Wrestling family sends our thoughts, prayers, and fond memories of a great official and great man to the family and friends of Mark Shumate. Mark will be greatly missed in the wrestling community.

From all the coaches of the Kywca and myself, we are truly saddened by the passing of Mr. Mark Shumate.

Mark was a long time wrestling official, president of the officials association, khsaa rules interpreter, and most importantly a friend to so many in the wrestling community.

Personally I cant thank Mark enough for treating me so good as a coach coming up. He would listen, explain, and occasionally understand my side. He was a friend in wrestling and life, I enjoyed all the time I got to spend with him in those gyms over the years.

Please have his family, friends, and the wrestling community in your thoughts and prayers.

Are you passionate about wrestling and eager to make a real impact on young athletes' lives? Do you have the experience, drive, and expertise to lead a wrestling program to new heights? If so, we want to hear from you! Were looking to get the youth and Middle schools teams back and going again.

🤼 Our wrestling program has a rich history of producing skilled athletes who embody discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. However, like many other programs, we hit the pause button due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. But now, we're ready to hit the mats once again, and we're on the hunt for dedicated coaches who share our enthusiasm.

🌟 What We're Looking For:

- Experienced wrestling coaches with a track record of developing athletes at various skill levels.
- Strong technical knowledge of wrestling techniques, training methods, and match strategies.
- The ability to create a positive and inclusive team environment that fosters growth and camaraderie.
- Excellent communication skills to connect with athletes, parents, and program stakeholders.

📍 Location: Fern Creek High School
📅 Season Start: Winter (November - February)
⏰ Time Commitment: 3 days a weeks and tournaments on Saturday

It’s wrestling season! This year Jorge Vega will be running the youth program with Brandon Cleveland . Signups start this month with the first practice being held on November 21st. Wrestling is a great opportunity for young kids to learn skills that will help them throughout their lifetime! We hope to see you guys soon! Would you be willing to risk losing access to your wrestling room and possibly ending your season in order to just watch 2-3 practices a week and ignore mask rules of the facility? Asking for a friend.

Our website has been updated. Sign ups will run through mid October. If you’re doing football, just plan to come out after football season. Or make the practices you can if they don’t overlap.
