For many of us, September is the turn.

Daytime temps can be variable, but nights are definitely starting to cool down.

The Creeky Crawler is a true attractor pattern, designed to get the attention of fish without attempting to present an imitation of any particular insect. We packed up the crew and hit the river.
Late summer is prime time on the Western Slope, with tailwaters and high alpine streams calling our name.

Our LOOP rods came along for the ride, handling everything from delicate presentations to longer casts as we worked through an assortment of Yakoda flies. The Funky P, Simple Soft Hackle Emerger, and Lip Stickers all found their way onto the end of the line, and into plenty of trout.

There’s still plenty of summer-like fishing to be had, but over the next few months conditions will change dramatically.
Early September can still mean terrestrials and dry-dropper rigs. By mid to late September, Lower and clearer water-and increasingly selective trout-make smaller bugs and more subtle presentations the name of the game.

FLY OF THE MONTH

The Micro Bu**er might be small, but don’t let its size fool you.
Built on the same proven foundation as the Woolly Bu**er, this compact version is an easy meal for trout looking for something they can eat without much effort. Its undulating marabou, subtle flash, and compact profile make it a great imitation of small leeches, baitfish, and other aquatic critters moving through the water.



Available in a range of fishy colors, with a pulsing marabou body and beaded head for added weight and flash. Tied on a barbless hook for easy, low-impact releases.
