Hey everyone!

I hope everyone has been great these past two years since we closed the gym. We have a big announcement that I think a few of you may be interested in. I will be stepping back into the cage on Jan 29th. I will be the main event for FNC's next fight card, and I am very excited about it.

I would love any and all support from the local community. If you'd like tickets, please feel free to text me at 804-516-0147 and we can make arrangements to get you tickets. (Ticket selection and prices are at the bottom of the picture).

“I want to open an MMA gym in Louisa.”
⁃ Robbie Lillard, 2015

▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️

And so began this incredible 4-year long journey...

▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️

When Robbie confessed his long-standing dream of opening and running an MMA gym in Louisa, I merely brushed it off thinking that nothing would come of it. Little did I know, we would spend the next few months haphazardly pulling together everything we needed to meet our March 19th Grand Opening date. With one punching bag and three pairs of mitts, we opened our doors to the general public for classes on March 21st, 2016.

We built Louisa Martial Arts from the ground up (we literally had nothing but mats), slowly adding in new and better equipment, and greatly improving the quality of our classes. We’ve also met the most incredible people with whom we’ve created the most amazing memories. To everyone who has stood by our side through thick-and-thin over these last four years, THANK YOU. You were the backbone of our small business. Louisa Martial Arts was born from Robbie’s passion for MMA, but you, our members, gave our gym life and meaning.

It breaks my heart to announce that we are officially closing our doors this month. The COVID-19 pandemic has been less than kind to us over these last few weeks, and we feel it is in our best interest to close the gym... It was a tough decision, but we hope this isn’t the final chapter, just the ending to this one. Thank you for the never-ending support this community has provided to us. We’ll miss you all dearly and we hope that you’ll never forget us.

Best Wishes,
Summer, Robbie & Leo

Dear members and Louisa Martial Arts family,

As you may have already heard, the Governor of Virginia increased safety measures for small business and non-essential workplaces earlier this week by mandating that gyms remain closed for 30 days (among other things, including school and restaurant closures). It was our hope that at the expiration of the two-week time-frame that we set for closing Louisa Martial Arts we would be able to resume all classes/training. It is with heavy hearts that we announce we must remain closed until April 26th to keep you, our members, your loved ones, and our community safe from COVID-19.

We will be pushing all of your memberships forward a month and hope to resume classes on Monday, April 27th. This date is tentative and relies heavily on the decisions of the governor and the state, but we will do our best to keep you updated every step of the way. If it is announced that we must stay closed past the 30 days, we will continue to push all memberships forward until we can safely re-open.

We hope that you will continue to stay home to prevent the spread of this virus and we look forward to re-opening our doors on April 27th!

Much Love,

Summer, Robbie, & Leo

Members and Louisa Martial Arts Family,

We have decided for the health and safety of our students and their families, and to prevent/limit the rapid spread of COVID-19, we are going to close the gym for two weeks, starting this Saturday, March 14th.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a Pandemic, and it is starting to spread pretty rapidly throughout the US, even VA. We only have 30 documented cases in Virginia, but over 80% of people that develop COVID-19 do not show severe symptoms, or any symptoms at all, so we fear that MORE people have been exposed than have been documented. The incubation period for the COVID-19 is 2-14 days, meaning that anyone who has been exposed will still be contagious, but may not show signs/symptoms until two weeks later.

We feel it is best for the community that we take this step and close the gym during such a high-risk/scary time, and we hope that you will agree that it's better to err on the side of caution than risk exposing our members and the community to this rapidly-spreading disease. It is important we give our medical personnel around the country time to prepare for this outbreak. It is going to happen, however, it is important we spread the breakout out over time, and not let it all hit at once.

We do ask for your support during this difficult time. We completely understand that two weeks is a VERY long time to not have classes and to be paying for them, but if everyone were to cancel their memberships (even for a month), we may not be able to stay open at all. Unfortunately, our bills/gym expenses don't take sick days...

However, if keeping your membership during this time puts you in a rough spot, like if are missing work or whatever it may be, please do not hesitate to reach out either through Facebook or one of our gym numbers and we will be happy to work with you.

We are going to continue to monitor this situation closely and post updates as new information becomes available.

Thank you to everyone for your amazing support. Please stay safe and wash your hands! See everyone in two weeks!

Best,
Summer & Robbie
