Gulf ceviche again today! A spadefish getting prepped and yes, the small one is a lionfish, venomous spines removed. Compliments to Ryan Stackhouse. This is the invasive species that we try to eradicate as much as possible to give the native fish a better chance.
Lots of colorful encrusting sponges, colonial anemones, polychaete worms, and one of our divers practicing good buoyancy to avoid bumping into any of it!

The best way to follow up a dive is with fresh ceviche made with fish that your Divemaster speared on the dives! Thank to Ryan Stackhouse for prepping ceviche for us, Zander Burns for sharing his music with us (and starting his dive training), and the rest of our divers today for making it a very enjoyable dive charter!😉

Tying off at the Ben and Casey today, we have some new divers in town from the Laredo Fire Station #8, doing their checkout dives. If it looks a little spooky, it is, that's because the vis is great down to about 40ft, then it can drop very low. Water temp, also drops. Its a dynamic environment out there. Tomorrow, we explore the rigs! :)

Diving today, with Ryan Stackhouse leading the group. These French Angelfish are interesting in that the juveniles (far right) are black with yellow stripes, and the adults (left) look much different, with completely different coloration. I would have thought, different species! But we learn something new every dive. 😉

Meet Ryan Stackhouse, he is also an experienced DM trainee (almost done) with hundreds of dives under his belt and lots of experience helping divers dive... competently and safely. Get to know Ryan, because he's like your swiss army knife dive buddy. A surfer and avid waterman all around, he lives on the island with his lovely family... who kindly let him sneak away to go diving! 😀

This is Stephanie. She is part dolphin. She is a Divemaster trainee and the dive buddy you need. She has no problem swimming out 200m to retrieve your GoPro that is floating away in a strong current... because you can't and she can. You can dive with her sometimes on our charters.
