Hi Everyone, Happy Memorial Day!! Hope you are having a good time spending it with your family. I just wanted to send an update. I made it to the Quarter Finals of the Super Mom Contest. Thank you for all those who have been supporting me this whole time.
There's the Quarter Finals and then Semis and Finals; so I apologize that it's such a long contest but it should end in a few weeks.
I believe I am in 9th place at the moment, starting out in the Quarter Finals.
I have 10 days left to accumulate more votes: Deadline is Thursday the 6th of June at 7PM PDT

This Memorial Day, I wanted to do a special note on my family. On both my mom and dad's side we recently lost a couple of people, Uncle Lando and Auntie Imelda...They were very kind gentle souls. I will remember Uncle Lando in his leather pants, cowboy boots and hat. I only met Auntie Mel a couple of times, but she was very sweet.
My dad was the first of his siblings to pass away in 2010, and he is definitely one of the reasons why I am who I am today. He is very inspirational, building our family home on top of a mountain and impacting everyone he met. I remember at his wake people kept coming to pay their respects and filling the area, and there was no more seats and people were standing along the walls. They came in their construction gear because they headed straight after work to waste no time. I lived in California so I had no idea how many friends he had in Hawaii; and it was a great big shock to me. I saw the most beautiful lei presented to him. It was from flowers usually gathered from the rainforest. You could find them along the highway. It was very light and wispy with yellow flowers that twisted and stretched about 4 feet long. It was an honor that someone took the time to make this special lei for him. I really miss my dad's physical form, but I know he walks with me everyday.
When I first received my Philippine Passport in the mail, I cried. I felt this really deep connection, like all of my grandparents, dad, and uncles who have past were surrounding me and giving me this wonderful gift to come full circle to my roots. I can now represent the Philippines in something historic by curling for them, and it was something that my family could not have expected when they came from America, but they knew that maybe life could be better than their wildest dreams. I would like to see what might happen if I keep trying and maybe some impossible things could be more possible than before.
I encourage everyone this Memorial Day to remember your loved ones in a way so that your past, present and future becomes more alive. I think that's what our loved ones would like for us!
Thank you for letting me share my story!
