Free Rehearsal space is some fabulous studios plus lots of other support!

In collaboration with Dance Resource Center (DRC);
Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Fusion Performing Dance Academy,
The Music Center and Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts will offer studio/performance space, at no cost, to eligible local choreographers and movement-based companies.
Residencies take place between October 2026 and July 2027.

HomeGrown was established and continues to evolve in response to community need for accessible, affordable, welcoming, well-equipped work and performance space.
HomeGrown has expanded to multiple sites across the County to grant access to creative Angeleno’s keeping in consideration local geographic and/or economic challenges.
HomeGrown is inclusive and welcomes all movement genres at any stage of career.
Application Submission Deadline - Friday, August 28th, 2026 by 11:59pm PST.
Notifications will be sent to those awarded space for 2026-2027 mid September.
*Priority access will be given to those whose proposals capture the legacy and impact of American dance pioneers in celebration of America250 and/or those directly impacted by the 2025 LA Wildfires/2026 Boyle Heights Fire*

Eligibility/Requirements:
Participants must align with DRC and partners' mission, vision and core values.
Applicants are residents of Greater Los Angeles and have lived in LA for at least two years
(CA drivers license may be requested).
Applicants are movement performance artist/choreographer/company who have presented their own work in a professional context/outside school setting.
Applicants must be 18 and/or over to apply.
Applicants cannot be currently enrolled as a full-time student.
Proposals must be relative and/or in celebration of America 250
All participants (choreographers & dancers) are required to review/sign liability waivers.
Photos and videos will be taken by DRC and/or partners during rehearsals for marketing and/or funding purposes. Photo and image-use waivers will be required from all participants.
If selected, Rehearsal Agreement will be issued for review and signature.
Dance specific shoes only with prior approval (no resin allowed @ FPDA/TMC).
If accepted into the program, DRC membership must be current/if lapsed —> renewed.
End of program brief exit survey required to capture overall experience.
Current LA County health protocols, at minimum, must be adhered to at all times. Partner venues may have stricter safety requirements that must be respected and adhered to.
*Selected Choreographer/Company Director will be required to attend;
- Cohort intro virtual meeting on Wednesday, September 30th, 11:30am - 1:30pm PST
- Choreographer and/or company dancer/s attendance is REQUIRED at ONE of the in-person workshops DRC offers between October 2026 and June 2027. This should include Day of Dancer Health taking place in the Fall.
All applicants will be reviewed based on, but not limited to, the following general criteria:
Artistic quality as demonstrated in the work sample submitted with your application;
Demonstrated potential to broaden equitable access to resources for dance creators and dancers of diverse levels, genres and cultural representation;
Ability to maximize desired rehearsal space;
Usefulness of space access for the dance creator; and
Reliability
