Words from Andrew Ross, a deeply talented men’s coach and facilitator who runs retreats himself, whose work has helped so many men come back into deeper honesty, presence, and connection. Andrew is on the leadership team at H.E.A.RT

The retreat is not just about what happens while we’re there.

It’s about finding the practice, the pattern interrupt, the breath, the cold plunge, the moment of truth, or the reminder that you can actually take home with you.

Because the real work is not escaping your life for a weekend.

The real work is remembering who you are, then returning to your life with something that helps you stay connected to that..

One week out.
A couple spaces left.
One private room and one lower-cost option just opened.

Message me if you feel called.

This work is deep, but it is not heavy all the time.

One of the things I love most about these retreats is the brotherhood that forms when men finally get out of the normal noise of life.

Yes, we breathe.
Yes, we go into ceremony.
Yes, we sit in real conversations.
Yes, we face things that matter.

But we also laugh.
We play.
We eat together.
We move.
We connect.
We remember that healing does not always have to look serious.

Sometimes the medicine is being witnessed.

Sometimes it is telling the truth.

Sometimes it is sitting around a fire with men who actually see you.

And sometimes it is laughing harder than you have in months because your nervous system finally feels safe enough to let go.

This is what I want men to understand:

A retreat is not about escaping life.

It is about coming back to life.

May 21–24 H.E.A.RT .Men’s retreat.

3 spots left.

Message me “RETREAT” if you feel the pull.

05/09/2026

The first time I went to a men’s retreat, I had resistance.

Not the dramatic kind.

The subtle kind.

The part of me that said:

“Do I really need this?”“What if it’s weird?”“What if I don’t fit in?”“What if I have to feel things I’ve been avoiding?”“What if I can just handle it on my own?”

And underneath all of that was my ego trying to protect the version of me that already knew how to survive.

But growth usually asks us to leave the environment where our patterns are comfortable.

That first retreat changed something in me.

Not because someone fixed me.

Not because I became a different person overnight.

But because I gave myself permission to step into a room with other men, tell the truth, breathe deeper, be witnessed, and feel what I had been carrying.

A lot of men feel the pull toward this kind of work and then immediately talk themselves out of it.

That resistance does not always mean “no.”

Sometimes resistance is the doorway.

Sometimes the part of you that wants to stay comfortable is standing right in front of the part of you that is ready to change.

May 21–24, we’re gathering at Rocas Retreat.

Breathwork.Movement.Cold immersion.Ceremony.Process work.Nature.Brotherhood.Truth.

I privately invited the first wave of men.

Now there are 4 spots left.

If you feel the pull, message me “RETREAT” and I’ll send you the details.

I’ve spent the last few weeks privately inviting men into something that means a lot to me.

Now I’m opening the remaining spots publicly.

May 21–24, we’re gathering near San Diego for a men’s retreat built for the man who knows there is more available to him — more clarity, more depth, more truth, more connection, more life.

This is not a vacation.

This is not a networking event.

This is not another weekend of consuming information and going back home the same.

This is a space to slow down, get honest, breathe, move, sit with other men, reconnect to your body, and remember the part of you that life, pressure, work, survival, and responsibility may have buried.

A lot of men are successful on paper but disconnected inside.

They’re carrying stress they don’t talk about. They’re craving brotherhood but don’t know where to find it.They’re tired of performing strength and ready to actually feel strong again. They know something needs to shift, but they need the right environment to make that shift real.

That is what this retreat is for.

We’ll be in ceremony, breathwork, movement, cold immersion, process work, nature, honest conversation, and deep masculine brotherhood.

The first wave of invites went out privately.

There are 5 spots left.

If you feel the pull, message me “RETREAT” and I’ll send you the details.

10 or 20 years ago, I trained harder, more often, and put a lot more wear and tear on my body.

I’m talking 6 days a week, 3-hour sessions, week after week, month after month.

Now?

I train less.
I still train hard, but smarter.
I eat more of the foods I actually enjoy.
And I stay in basically the same shape.

Why?

Because I stopped relying on effort alone and started optimizing the full strategy.

Peptides.
Hormones.
Training quality.
Recovery.
Sleep.
Nutrition.
Meal timing.
Stress management.
Red light.
Cold plunge.
Mobility.
Breathwork.
Light environment.

All of it matters.

A lot of people still think the answer is always more.

More workouts.
More cardio.
More restriction.
More suffering.

But a lot of the time, more is not the answer.

Better physiology is.
Better recovery is.
Better planning is.

When your peptides and hormones are optimized…
when inflammation is lower…
when recovery is dialed in…
when training is intelligent…
when food quality and timing are working for you…
and when you use the right tools at the right time…

You can often do less, enjoy life more, and still get better results.

That’s the difference between grinding and optimizing.

I’m not trying to prove how hard I can work anymore.
I’m focused on how effective I can be.

If you want to train less, enjoy food more, and get into better shape, message me.

I’ll show you how to optimize your strategy, including what peptides to use, when to use them, and how to bring the full picture together.

This is one of my morning habit stacks.

Red light and infrared exposure to stimulate mitochondrial function, increase circulation, and support cellular repair.

Grounding to regulate the nervous system, discharge accumulated electrical stress, and bring the body back into parasympathetic balance.

Peptide administration to support targeted pathways — recovery, inflammation control, hormone optimization, mitochondrial output, and long-term resilience.

The key is stacking inputs.

Instead of random habits, I layer compatible stressors and signals so they amplify each other.

Other morning stacks I rotate:

Sunlight exposure combined with meditation to anchor circadian rhythm, improve dopamine tone, and align cortisol awakening response.

Breathwork combined with cold therapy to train stress tolerance, improve vagal tone, and increase metabolic activation.

The body responds to signals.

Every morning I choose which signals I’m sending.

Recovery. Strength. Clarity. Longevity.

Stack with intention.

Received my Certification for Biomechanics 2.0 from Conor Harris. First of all, I just want to thank Conor and Trevor Corrado for a FUN course that was packed with useful information.

This course did not just give me new knowledge, tools or exercises to work with - I received a whole entire system for assessing and progressing clients with primary, secondary and tertiary patterns that every individual on this planet has to varying degrees.

Most people are “stuck” on what side of their body can’t shift and occupy the other side effectively. This imbalance can lead to injuries, pain or a lack of performance. The key is re-wiring the nervous system to direct the body back to center. This is not about activating certain inactive muscles or stretching tight ones. It’s capitalizing on the body’s intelligence to correct itself.

I have studied other modalities that have dealt with similar patterns and posture variations, but this one made the most sense to me and is simple to apply.

I highly recommend it for physical therapists, chiros, trainers and other fitness professionals who want to make sense of the patterns they see on a regular basis and understand how to correct them in a systematic way that doesn’t symptom chase.

Everyone can benefit from doing this work. If you have existing injuries, discomfort, regular tightness or even if you just want to maximize performance, message me to hear about how this incredible system can help you. In just one session, huge changes can be made.

Anyone who wants to be assessed using this system I am offering a complementary session to just one Los Angeles based individual. Type “posture” in the comments and I will pick one person randomly next week! I am locations in Santa Monica and Playa Vista.

It’s been awhile since I posted a progress update.

I have been steadily getting bigger for a long time. I am definitely at my biggest, and I don’t know if it’s possible to get any bigger without risking my health in ways I do not want to.

My new focus is to keep as much muscle mass as I can while lowering body fat as much as I can. 20 years ago I was just under 5%, 10 years ago I was just under 7%. I never stayed that way the entire time, I have fluctuated during the different journeys of my life. A numeric goal for my next scan will be 7% with at 275lbs or higher.

I have already started working to get there the last couple months. Before I changed my program, I was bodybuilding 4-5x a week, taking a week off every 6-8 weeks. Hot yoga 1-2 a week, mobility training 2x a week and other movement to stay healthy.

Now, I am lifting 2-4x a week, doing 1-2 insane 30 minute metabolic workouts a week and doing 1-2 30 minute sessions of steady state cardio. I’m also still doing hot yoga once a week and the mobility training twice a week.

I have changed my diet. Instead of eating about 4000-4500 calories a day with 400 grams of carbs and 300 g of protein, I am now eating 2750-3500 calories a day with less than 50 carbs a day during the week, and about 250 carbs on the weekend. I’m getting between 200 and 250 grams of protein per day. I will be sacrificing muscle eating this way, but there is always a trade off.

I have also added in some peptides for fat loss and energy expenditure such as 5 amino 1MQ, AOD 9694 and SLU-PP-332 for a boost at different times.

Transformation Time

Valentina has gotten some of most impressive body composition results for a female I have ever been a part of. Her initial 15 week results were amazing - Dropping over 5 lbs of fat and gaining nearly 6 lbs of muscle, thus reducing her body fat % by over 5% from 26% - > 20%! (As shown on her DEXA scan below).
For a 100 lb female who has been training her whole life, this was nothing less than an extraordinary feat 👏

Life happens and she was forced to take a break from training.

Once she resumed working with me we took another scan and she was back to where we initially began. However, what happened next was beyond insane…🤯

In 5 months, not only did she lose the fat she lost previously, but she gained 18 lbs of muscle!!!!!😱😱😱😱😱 (Building as much muscle in her lower body was her personal goal.)

For a female with a lifetime of top-notch trainers training her in the past, to gain so much muscle in just 5 months naturally, is something I have not heard of.

Though her nutrition and work-outs were ultimately locked in, this was not the case when she came to me. She was starving herself eating under 1,000 calories and working out multiple times a day. Hitting cardio on top of her strength training every-day.

The first thing I did was double her calories, and cut her workouts by less than half. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but I find this common amongst many women and some men. They tend to eat too little and do too much cardio. This will end up having the opposite of the desired effect. With not enough calories to grow, and too much activity to recover, she was spinning her wheels like a tire stuck in the mud.

In addition to making these changes I gave her Breathwork exercises to regulate her nervous system so she could sleep soundly for the first time in years, finally being able to recover and grow. I’m couldn’t be more proud of the work she has done.

Pushing Limits and Optimizing Your Strategy with Bio-Mechanical Drop Sets! 💪🚀

Today's workout took intensity to a new level with bio-mechanical drop sets. This advanced technique is a game-changer for muscle growth and endurance. Here's how it works:

In a typical drop-set, you execute an exercise set nearly to the point of failure, then reduce the weight to squeeze in additional reps. However, with a Mechanical Drop Set, the innovation lies in maintaining the same weight but altering the mechanics of the movement. This means you switch to an easier version of the same exercise for each drop, allowing for more reps. Or this can just involve adjusting the angle of the exercise. This variation not only increases the time your muscles are under tension but also targets them from various angles, contributing to enhanced muscle growth!

Start with a muscle group, once you hit fatigue, change the angle of movement so that you hit a different section of fibers within the same muscle group. We are changing the overload point throughout the drop set. For instance, start in a position where the muscle group is fully shortened (hardest when muscle is fully contracted), and gradually work through to a lengthened position (hardest when the muscle is most stretched).

Here, I am demonstrating a mechanical drop set that I borrowed from Coach Kassem from N1-performance. I am doing 3 sets of the same exercise (chest flys) but changing the angle of my body by about 15 degrees each set to target different sections of the pec major. I start out feeling the contraction the most at the sternal attachment and gradually work toward feeling it mostly at where the pec attaches to the humerus.

It's not just about lifting; it's about smart, strategic training. Bio-mechanical drop sets force your muscles to adapt, grow, and strengthen in ways traditional workouts can't match, optimizing reps for effectiveness. Ready to challenge yourself? Let's get it! 🏋️‍♂️🔥
