ANCA would like to take time to say a special thank you to Steve and Michael for all their hard work and support to the boys and taking time away from their families. The process and co-ordination of these tours takes a lot of time and the commitment from both ANCA, parents and families and with a special mention the athletes, who are putting everything they can on the line to ensure success, not only for the group but for themselves and their future.

There is a lot of work to be done once they get back and we will keep you posted on the progress with recruiting. 2019 tours for boys and girls are underway and with the success of this tour we will be asking for feedback on how we can make it even better for the next ANCA athletes.

Once again thanks Steve. Michael and Paul we have really enjoyed the updates daily and they pictures along with video.

The boys played their hearts out against a team from Atlanta Georgia who were a step above everyone else we had played.
Most of their team were major Div 1 prospects and we jumped them early and led for most of the first half and went to the break only four down.
We went blow for blow but slipped behind by 10 with 4 mins to go.
Once again we fought back and got within 5 but couldn’t come back this time and ended losing by 10.
It was an awesome effort and the boys got some great feedback from the tournament organiser who came and watched our game.
The boys can hold their heads up and finished the highest ranked international team in the tournament.

Bounce back we did after yesterday’s disappointment
We won both games but could have easily dropped both as they were tight games.
Game 2 we played against a team from Alaska and held on for a 47-38. It wasn’t perfect but we played hard and defended well.
After a two hour break we played Elite 17 Prep from Seattle.
We were outplayed again and were 9 points down with 7 minutes to go.
Our full court defence rattled them and we took momentum and came out 45-40 winners.
It was a great result as we were in dire straights.
We finished 2nd in our pool and play Splash City tomorrow at 2.40 in an elimination final.
Survive and Advantage, lose and go home.

Sometimes things don’t go as you want but it’s how you respond that matters.
Last night we were out played by Fly Select from Oregon and dropped our first game of the tournament.
Today we look to bounce back with two games starting at 1.40 against a team from Alaska followed by a game at 5.10 vs Elite Prep

We started the day winning game 9 against Team Germany 46-19
The boys played sensational basketball and never gave the opposing team a chance.
Trying to get to 10-0 we played Canyon HS who were very highly rated.
This was the game of the tour so far as we went shot for shot with them eventually ending in a draw after double extra time.
We didn’t have the energy to go to a third extra time in the extremely hot conditions after our 2nd game and our tournament starting tomorrow.
I’m happy with where our boys are at and I am fully confident we are ready to roll tomorrow against the team from Oregon. We are peaking at the correct time.
The afternoon was spent relaxing and catching up on homework 📚

ANCA Elite move to 8-0 in their July AAU tour with a comfortable win against Yorba Linda High School.
Once again great team work was the feature of the game.
Thanks to Jason Pietsch for putting this together for us.
We headed to an Italian restaurant for a pasta feed and then a pool recovery while the coaches watched the fans film from the courtyard

Our first quiet day.
A sleep in and big breakfast followed by some homework time.
At 12pm we went outlet shopping and went to another nice shopping centre.
Some more supplies from Walmart on the way home were picked up.
Dinner at the hotel, NBA Summer league and a 9pm swim.
Michael and I got some relaxation time in the courtyard in between 5 loads of washing.
Our schedule was released for the Summer Tip-off and we love the draw. See attached.
We have a game scheduled tomorrow against Yorba Linda after our first day of no basketball 🏀

We finish the tournament undefeated with only 5 players suiting up for the last game due to some minor niggles.
The fabulous 5 led from start to finish with the three injured players on camera and video duties.
This tournament has been the perfect lead up to next week and the live in dorm experience has given them a chance to bond off the court.
Off to Mission Viejo now to check in to our new hotel and then straight to the Drew League.
