Tre Harris could be one of the Chargers’ biggest breakout candidates in 2026.

The former second-round pick had a quiet rookie season with 30 receptions, 324 yards and one touchdown, but the belief inside the building is growing fast.

Jim Harbaugh said Harris has clearly been one of the Chargers’ top three receivers during offseason work, alongside Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey.

Now Sports Illustrated’s Connor Orr is predicting a major Year 2 leap.

Orr believes Harris could see his targets, catches, yards and touchdowns more than double in Mike McDaniel’s offense, where his size, explosiveness and versatility could make him a perfect fit with Justin Herbert.

Harris is expected to play a bigger role in 2026, especially as the Chargers continue shaping their WR room.

The rookie season was quiet.

The second season could be different.

Myles Garrett hasn't even played a snap for the Rams yet...and he's already converting fans.

LA Dodgers manager Dave Roberts admitted he's switching allegiances from Chargers Nation to Rams Nation after Los Angeles landed the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

💬 "He's top of the food chain, it's going to make a good defense even better."

💬 "I'm excited to see him throw out the first pitch and in a Rams uniform."

Then Roberts dropped the bombshell:
💬 "I used to be a Chargers fan but now it's sensitive up here."

Safe to say the Garrett trade is creating plenty of excitement around Los Angeles. 😅

Rams already had championship aspirations.

Adding Myles Garrett may have just taken those expectations to another level.

And apparently even longtime Chargers fans are starting to notice. 👀🔥

Every great defense needs players it can be built around.

For the Chargers, Derwin James has been one of those players for a long time.

The veteran safety added another impressive season to his résumé in 2025, earning his fifth Pro Bowl selection and third Second-Team All-Pro honor while helping Los Angeles return to the playoffs.

His season included:

💙 94 tackles
💛 3 interceptions
💙 7 passes defended
💛 2 sacks
💙 6 tackles for loss

James appeared in 16 games and started every one of them, continuing to set the tone for the defense.

The Chargers backed that up during the offseason, signing him to a three-year, $75.6 million extension.

Players come and go.

Through every chapter of this era of Chargers football, Derwin James has remained one of the foundations this team is built on.

NFL.com ranked the Chargers as the No. 5 team most likely to win their first Super Bowl.

Los Angeles has gone 22-12 in the regular season under Jim Harbaugh, but the next step is clear, win in the playoffs. Justin Herbert still has the talent to push this team into true contender status, especially with Mike McDaniel now calling plays and the offensive line getting healthier and stronger.

The defense has been excellent over the last two seasons, but with Jesse Minter gone, new coordinator Chris O’Leary has a major job ahead. If Herbert takes another step and the defense holds up, the Chargers can make a real push.

The Los Angeles Chargers made major strides at tight end this offseason, transforming a position group that lacked impact for much of the 2025 campaign 📈

GM Joe Hortiz addressed one of the biggest concerns by signing Charlie Kolar, a player that brings a skill set that was missing from the Chargers’ offense, particularly as a blocker.

The Chargers then took things a step further by signing David Njoku to a one-year deal after the draft.

Njoku instantly raises the ceiling of the entire group, giving Justin Herbert another dynamic playmaker capable of creating mismatches in both the intermediate and deep passing game.

With Gadsden continuing to develop, Kolar solidifying the blocking responsibilities, and Njoku adding proven production and explosiveness, the Chargers have completely reshaped their tight end room 🔥

Antonio Gates transitioned seamlessly from a standout collegiate basketball player into an absolutely unguardable gridiron force for the franchise.

He helped the team by weaponizing elite post-up positioning and an imposing physical frame to isolate overmatched linebackers down the seam, creating an automatic option for his quarterback on critical passing downs.

Rival defensive coordinators constantly watched their coverage brackets get rendered completely useless against his natural box-out capability inside the red zone.

This uniquely dominant consistency across sixteen unforgettable seasons generated an incredible 116 regular-season touchdown grabs.

Claiming this historic scoring haul establishes an unassailable benchmark at the true summit of the organization's aerial history. ⚡⚡

Justin Herbert stands alongside Patrick Mahomes as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to drop 5,000+ passing yards and 300+ rushing yards in a single season. A completely unique tier of elite playmaker. ⚡️🎯

NFL.com’s Bobby Kownack is buying stock in Justin Herbert entering the 2026 season.

The arrival of Mike McDaniel could be exactly what Herbert needs to reach another level. McDaniel helped elevate Tua Tagovailoa into a Pro Bowl quarterback, and now he inherits one of the league’s most talented passers.

The Los Angeles Chargers also reinforced the offensive line by adding Tyler Biadasz, drafting Jake Slaughter, and getting Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater back healthy. If everything comes together, Herbert could be poised for one of the best seasons of his career.

Joe Alt is finally back on the field.

After missing most of the 2025 season with an ankle injury, the Chargers’ young tackle says he feels great and has had no issues during OTAs.

Alt appeared in just six games last season before the injury ended a promising year, but he’s now fully participating and embracing Mike McDaniel’s new offense.

The former first-round pick called the scheme “freeing” and praised the team’s work ethic throughout the offseason.

For Los Angeles, Alt’s return could be one of the biggest additions of the entire offseason.

A healthy Joe Alt helps change everything up front.

The front office recognized a critical opportunity to reinforce their passing hierarchy by locking in a premier athletic weapon during the free agency window.

Njoku helps the team by weaponizing elite catch-and-run flexibility over the middle of the field to consistently convert critical third downs.

Pairing his veteran physical frame with rising young depth options gives the coaching staff incredible schematic freedom in multiple-tight end packages.

Transitioning into a brand-new playbook under a fresh offensive system brings an exciting level of tactical possibilities for the franchise this summer.

Quarterback Justin Herbert can step back with supreme confidence knowing his intermediate passing windows are completely secured by a proven playmaker. ⚡️💪
