Thank you to all the students and parents who participated in the 2nd IKO LA Kata Seminar.
In addition to the Los Angeles dojo, we were joined by Shihan Alex and Senpai Carlos form the Colorado dojo,
as well as Sensei Javier and Senpai Lisa from the Florida dojo.
I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Shihan Katsuhito Gokai, International Committee Member of the New York branch; Shihan Liz Gokai, who joined us as a guest; and Shihan Taku Nakasaka of the LA branch.
Shin Ito, Chairman of the Technical Committee, who led the seminar, emphasized the importance of fundamentals and provided careful instruction starting from the Kihon.
We practiced kata, starting with the beginner-level forms and progressing through Seipai.
In addition to technical instruction on the kata, Shihan Ito carefully demonstrated the meaning behind the movements and performed breakdowns of Yantsu, Pinan sono 5, Gekisai sono 1 and Seienchin. Everyone engaged earnestly in the practical training. At the end of each kata, a Q&A session was held for all participants, and everyone asked questions with great enthusiasm.
He also taught us how to apply kata breakdowns to kumite, sparring, and self-defense techniques that bring kata to life. With his meticulous and detailed instruction on basics, moving kata, breakdowns, and kumite techniques, combined with his warm personality, it was a highly meaningful seminar.
In addition to the technical instruction, this seminar provided a valuable opportunity to once again appreciate the depth of karate through the breakdown of advanced kata and kumite techniques that many of us were seeing for the first time.
Certificates of participation will be issued to all attendees.

第２回IKO LA型セミナーにご参加してくださった生徒の皆様、保護者の皆様ありがとうございました。

ロスアンジェル内の道場はもとよりニューヨーク支部、コロラド道場からはアレックス師範、カルロス先輩、
フロリダ道場からはハビエル先生、リサ先輩も参加してくださりました。
ニューヨーク支部の国際委員の五来克仁師範、ゲストで参加してくださった師範リズ五来、そしてLA支部の中坂琢師範には心から感謝致します。

セミナーを指導してくださった技術委員長の伊藤慎師範から基本の大切さを説われ基本稽古から丁寧にご指導頂きました。

型は初級の型から始まり十八までの型の稽古を行い、
型の技術指導に加えて動作の意味、安三、平安その５、撃砕その１と征遠鎮の分解を伊藤師範が丁寧に実演してくださり全員が実技を真剣に取り組んでいました。すべての型の終わりに全員に質疑応答の時間が設けられみなさんが熱心に質問されました。
型に生きる約束組手、組手、セルフディフェンスに使える型の分解の応用技術なども指導してくださり、基本、移動　型、分解、組手技術と伊藤師範の丁寧で細かい指導とお人柄で非常に有意義なセミナーでした。
今回のセミナーでは技術指導に加えて初めて見る上級の型の分解や組手技術など空手の奥深さを改めて感じる貴重な経験となったと思います。

On Saturday, April 4th, and Sunday, April 5th, the West Los Angeles Dojo will be hosting a Kyokushinkaikan Sohonbu-approved The 2nd IKO LA KATA Seminar.
The seminar will be held in Gardena, which is easily accessible from all dojos.
IKO KATA Technical Committee Chairman Shihan Shin Ito from Japan will be invited to instruct us on the correct kata of the revised Official Kyokushin Kata.
The event will be divided into two parts, morning and afternoon.
We plan to provide detailed instruction on everything from basic movements for beginners to advanced students.
We encourage competitors, dojo students who are thinking of competing in kata competitions, as well as dojo managers, instructors, and Sensei to participate, and hope that this will help you improve your own level.
Please come and join us.

On September 14, 2025, the following two individuals successfully completed the 10 Man Kumite and attained their 1st dan in KyokushinKaikan.

A black belt award ceremony was held on February 1, 2026.

Senpai Sophia and Senpai Keita have grown admirably, embodying the courtesy, technique, and strength befitting black belts.

Despite being teenagers, they have trained for nearly ten years, consistently achieving excellent results—placing and winning—in local and international tournaments. For children and teenage students, the support and understanding of their families greatly influence their progress.

To the Sanders family and Kimoto family, thank you so very much. I really appreciate you from bottom of my heart.

Earning a black belt is not the goal, but the start.
This is only the beginning.

Please continue striving for excellence in both martial arts and academics, aiming to cultivate character and train both mind and body.
Congratulations to Senpai Sophia & Senpai Keita!

９月１４日２０２５年に下記の２名が十人組手を完遂し極真会館の初段と昇段いたしました。
２月１日２０２６年に黒帯授与式を行いました。

ソフィア先輩、恵太先輩は礼儀、技、強さ、など黒帯を締めるにふさわしく立派に成長致しました。
二人はティーンエイジャーながら１０年近くに渡る稽古を続けローカル大会、国際大会で常に入賞、優勝という優秀な結果を残しました。お子さん、ティーンエイジャーの生徒さんの場合はご家族のサポートとご理解が大きく影響いたします。
サンダース家と木本家の皆様には長きに渡るサポートとご理解を心から感謝いたします。

誠にありがとうございました。

黒帯取得とはゴールではなくスタートです。

これからも文武両道、人格の陶冶と心身の鍛錬を目指し精進して下さい。

Senpai Koorosh Evagee, 2nd Dan, a member of the West Los Angeles branch and representing the United States at the World Championships, participated in the heavyweight division in USWC, but was unfortunately defeated by the respected, powerful Brazilian fighter Sensei Diago Silva.
For Senpai Koorosh, this was his match again against Sensei Silve since the 13th World Open Karate Championship in Tokyo in 2023. We hope this experience will serve as a valuable lesson for his future.

USWC ヘビーウェイト級に参加したウェストロスアンジェル支部所属、世界大会アメリカ代表の
クロシエバジー二段は惜しくもブラジルの敬仰する強豪選手であるディアゴシルバ先生に敗退しました。
シルバ先生とは東京で２０２３年に開催された第１３回オープントーナメント全世界空手道選手権大会以来の対戦でした。この経験を今後に活かして欲しく思います。

At the recent US Weight Category Karate Championships, 10 competitors from the West Los Angeles dojo emerged as champions. This is the result of everyone's teamwork!
I would like to thank Shihan Gorai of the International Committee, Shihan Elizabeth of the NY branch, Shihan Nakasaka of the USWC organizers, staff, and volunteers for giving us this opportunity.
先日、行われました全米ウェイト制空手道選手権大会ではウエストロスアンジェルス道場から１０名のチャンピオンが出ました。
みなさんのチームワークの賜物です。
国際委員会の五来師範、ニューヨーク支部のエリザベス師範、USWC開催者の中坂師範、スタッフ、ボランティアの皆様方、このような機会を頂きありがとうございました。

Thank you to the many who participated in the Kangeiko(Winter training) and Kagamibiraki on January 11th.
Thanks to all the students who gathered at the Santa Monica beach before sunrise in the cold and practiced hard.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the volunteer mothers who cooked a large amount of ozoni at the dojo from early in the morning. It was very delicious.
At the Kagamibiraki party, we awarded the attendance ranking of the Aduts class and the Kids class for 2025, and each one of them announced their resolution for 2026.

寒い中、夜明け前にサンタモニカビーチに集合し稽古を頑張ってくれた生徒のみなさんお疲れ様でした。

I sincerely thank you for participating in last Saturday's 2025 punches & kicks and Christmas party, and for joining us yesterday, Sunday, for the dojo's cleanup.
Every single student in the little kids successfully completed 1000 punches and 1025 kicks on last Saturday.
I am deeply humbled by the gifts, cards, and donations I received.
Thank you so very much.
Thank you also for participating in the year-end cleaning.
In Kyokushin, the year-end cleaning is a practice to “purify the mind and body, welcoming the new year with gratitude and respect.” It embodies the spirit of “courtesy and gratitude” emphasized by President Oyama: “Clean the place you came from.” Cleaning the dojo demonstrates ‘gratitude’ and serves as “spiritual training” to purify the mind and body, connecting to the spirit of “OSU” (respect, endurance, gratitude).

先日の土曜日は２０２５本突き＆蹴りとクリスマスパーティーに、そして昨日の日曜日は道場大掃除にご参加してくださり誠にありがとうございました。
幼年部の生徒さんも全員が１０００本突きと１０２５本蹴りを完遂致しました。
プレゼント、カード、ドネーションまで頂いてしまい大変恐縮です。
大掃除のご参加もありがとうございます。
極真における大掃除は、「心身の穢れを払い、感謝と尊敬の念を持って新たな年を迎える修行」であり、大山総裁が重視した「来た場所を綺麗にする」という「礼節と感謝」の精神を表します。道場を掃除することで「感謝」を示し、心身を清める「精神修養」として「押忍」の精神（尊敬・忍耐・感謝）と結びついております。
生徒の皆さん、保護者の皆様、ご参加のほど、誠にありがとうございました。
