Athens, 2024. During our Greece retreat, our cohort spent a morning with Yoga & Sport with Refugees, an incredible non-profit providing free fitness, yoga, and sports programming to refugees across Europe.

At their Athens gym, we gathered for a conversation with the YSR team and several young women they serve, listening to them share stories about their journeys to Greece and life in Athens since trying to adjust and move forward.

Afterward, strength coach Brianna Diaz led us through a Zumba class. By the second song, all of us were simply moving, dancing, and laughing together.

Through our cohort’s 10% model donation, we funded two large pieces of new gym equipment to replace worn-out gear in their main training space, which serves over 100 refugees every single day. On Giving Tuesday that year, the YSR team hosted a Zoom call to show us the new gear in action.
