The USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance combines a conservatory environment and interdisciplinary practice with the academic rigor of a major private research institution. Its hallmark is the innovation of a hybrid movement model expressed in new media, scholarship, studio practice, music and choreography. The school prepares leaders for the future and offers students a robust performance repertory and strategic career skills, as well as opportunities for artistic development and collaboration with world-renowned artists in Los Angeles.

We are thrilled to announce that five-time Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown is the next Claude and Alfred Mann Endowed Artist in Dance, marking the arrival of one of the country’s most celebrated directors and choreographers to the university.

Brown, the artistic director and founder of Camille A. Brown & Dancers, begins her tenure in fall 2027, continuing through the 2028-2029 academic year. Her appointment follows a national search by the school to secure leading creative figures to mentor and teach undergraduate BFA students.

“Camille is a visionary, if not transcendent, figure in American dance, theater and media,” said Julia M. Ritter, dean of USC Kaufman. “To have her join us as our multiyear visiting artist is an immense honor and an extraordinary opportunity for our students to learn from a singular talent.”

From the City of Angels to the City of Light 🇺🇸✨🇫🇷

This summer, USC Kaufman students traveled to Paris for the culmination of our exchange with CNSMDP (Conservatoire de Paris / Danse), collaborating through the work of choreographer Leïla Ka (Leïla Ka) and performing at Le Carreau du Temple (Le Carreau du Temple) during Nuit Blanche.
