As a former pro boxer & President of the West Coast Boxing Hall of Fame it is important to me to recognize and honor the authors of great boxing biographies.

It was just such a book, "Victory over Myself" the biography of Floyd Patterson, that sparked my desire to become a professional Boxer way back when I was 12 -years old.

When my friend, Lightweight contender Jeff Bumpus, the "Tazmanian Devil" who fought the great Julio Cesar Chavez to a technical Draw at the Olympic Auditorium (the first blemish on JCC's record) published his biography, I had to read it.

A few months later I was proud to award "Becoming Taz" the WCBHOF "Book of the year"!
